A 10pc sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo while preparing to move to Incheon
Sushi Doku The Songdo (스시도쿠 더송도) is a sushi spot on the 2nd floor of Honesta Mall in Songdo, and this time I had the 10pc premium sushi set. We're getting ready to move to Incheon, so we've been coming to Songdo a lot. We look at homes, wander around the neighborhood we'll be living in, and naturally we keep stopping by Songdo Triple Street too.

Along the way, finding good places to eat in Songdo one by one has become part of the fun. This time we wanted a slightly special meal for the first time in a while, so we went to Sushi Doku The Songdo.

We like sushi in general, and this time I wanted proper sushi rather than the everyday kind. The menu that caught my eye was the 10pc premium sushi set.

He enjoyed it so much and was so happy... I had a cold, so I couldn't taste much, but even so that distinctive flavor was truly premium. It's a place I want to go back to, so here's my write-up!
Where is Sushi Doku The Songdo, and where do you park?
Sushi Doku The Songdo is on the 2nd floor of Honesta Mall, 157 Songdogukjedae-ro, Yeonsu-gu, Incheon, and parking at Honesta Mall is free for 2 hours. It's close to Songdo Triple Street, so it's a handy spot for a meal in the middle of shopping or a date.
If you've been coming to Songdo a lot like us, it's worth a stop. It's also easy to reach from Technopark Station, so it could suit anyone looking for a good place to eat near Technopark Station.
🚗 Easy parking at Honesta Mall
If you're driving, you don't need to worry much about parking. Parking at Honesta Mall gives you 2 free hours. Parking fees can quietly add up when you eat out in Songdo, so 2 free hours let us eat and head out without rushing.
We drove that day too, and the easy parking left us satisfied.
What is the atmosphere like at Sushi Doku The Songdo?
The restaurant felt clean and calm overall. You might picture a sushi place as a casual spot for a quick meal, but Sushi Doku The Songdo has a more relaxed atmosphere, so I thought it would suit a special day or a date meal.

We've been busy checking out all sorts of things in Songdo for the move, but for that day we decided to clear our heads and just enjoy a good meal. Yes we did!!!
What's in the 10pc premium sushi set?
The 10pc premium sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo is made up of 10 kinds of sushi: flounder, red sea bream, salmon, ika (squid), sweet shrimp, akami (lean tuna), red shrimp, red snow crab meat, eel and ankimo (monkfish liver). It isn't one type of sushi but a lineup of many toppings in one go, so I was looking forward to it.

From flounder and salmon that we eat often to toppings we don't usually come across, it was fun to try them one by one.
Starting light with flounder and red sea bream
We started, naturally, with the light white fish. The flounder had a chewy texture and a clean taste, and the red sea bream was light too, with a subtle richness, which made it a good first piece.

With sushi, it matters that you can taste the ingredient itself, and I liked that each topping had a different texture and flavor as I went through them.
Soft, rich salmon and ika (squid)
Next, my favorite: salmon! Its soft, rich flavor really came through. It melted smoothly in the mouth, familiar but delicious as always.
The ika was appealing for its chewy, springy bite. It's funny how much the texture changes with the topping, even though it's all sushi.
Sweet shrimp and red shrimp
The set has two kinds of shrimp, so we could compare them.

The sweet shrimp (단새우) had a gentle sweetness as the name suggests, with a texture that seemed to melt. The red shrimp had that rich shrimp flavor too, and I enjoyed it.

If you like shrimp sushi, I think you'd be quite happy with this lineup.
From akami (lean tuna) to red snow crab and eel
Then there was akami, with the light, clean taste of tuna that I liked.

The red snow crab meat was soft with a gentle sweetness, a different charm from the fish sushi before it. The eel was a familiar taste, but the sweet sauce and soft texture meant I enjoyed it right to the end.

Finishing with ankimo (monkfish liver)
Personally, the one that felt most special was the ankimo.

Ankimo is made from monkfish liver, and its rich, deep flavor felt clearly different from the other sushi. All 10 pieces are different toppings, so I never got tired and had fun tasting them one by one.
It was different from just eating sushi until you're full; checking what each piece was as I went let me enjoy the meal a bit more slowly.
What sides come with the premium sushi set?
The premium sushi set at Sushi Doku The Songdo comes with 10pc of sushi plus chawanmushi (steamed egg custard), tempura, udon, salad and pickles. I thought 10 pieces would be small, but the sides made it more filling than expected.
🍵 Silky chawanmushi under the lid
My favorite part of the spread was the chawanmushi. It's the small lidded bowl in the middle of the photo. Lift the lid and you find softly steamed egg custard.
Eating the warm, soft chawanmushi between pieces went well with the cold fish sushi. It felt like it reset the texture in my mouth, and I liked that a warm dish came with the set.
🍤 Crispy tempura and warm udon
It isn't a set that ends with sushi: tempura and udon come too, so it was much more filling than I expected. The tempura was crispy, and eating it with the sushi changed the texture nicely.
The udon let us have warm broth and chewy noodles between the cold sushi. It was topped with fried tofu and garnishes, easy to eat along with the broth.
🥗 Salad and pickles round out the set
A salad came next to the sushi. Fresh vegetables with dressing were nice for a light bite between the main items, and pickles were set out on one side too.

With sushi, tempura, udon and chawanmushi all together, flavors and textures kept changing even within one tray. I first thought 10 pieces wouldn't be much, but with these sides it was quite filling.
🍣 Picking piece by piece from the 10pc set
What I liked most about this 10pc premium sushi set is, once again, the variety.

From light white fish like flounder and red sea bream through salmon, ika, sweet shrimp, akami, red shrimp, red snow crab meat, eel and ankimo, every piece tasted different. Add warmth from the chawanmushi and udon and a crispy bite from the tempura, and it felt far richer than a plain sushi meal.
Even in the photo the tray looks generously laid out, so I think it's a good order when you want a refined meal. It would suit a slow date day in Songdo like ours, or a special day when you want neat Japanese food.
Sushi Doku The Songdo free corkage and receipt review perk
Corkage is available at Sushi Doku The Songdo, and I'm told it's free. That's welcome news if you want to bring your favorite wine or liquor to enjoy with sushi. I thought it would be handy for a special day or a date.
If you leave a Naver receipt review, they give you an otoro (fatty tuna) sushi!

This is tuna?! Crazy good taste and looks...
It seems like a good place to go after a date in Songdo or shopping at Triple Street, when you want a meal with a bit more atmosphere.
