Seocho cake shop, strawberry mango cake my daughters loved: Chef Cho
In short
Chef Cho Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam is a cake shop on B1 of Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam in Seocho, Seoul, connected underground to Express Bus Terminal Station. The writer stopped by in the afternoon, took home a Strawberry Mango Fresh Cream No. 1 (53,000 won) packed with an ice pack for the one-hour trip, and finished the cake with her daughters in no time thanks to the not-too-sweet cream and fresh fruit. The Chef Cho strawberry mango fresh cream cake is a gift-worthy cake that even someone who usually scrapes off cream eats whole.

Today I visited Chef Cho at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam, a famous cake spot in Gangnam, to pick up a cake I'd ordered for takeout.

Chef Cho is known as one of the "four great kings of cake." I had errands at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam and found Chef Cho on the first basement floor, where lots of bakeries are clustered. The cakes, with their perfect fruit-and-fresh-cream combos, are a feast for the eyes. If your eyes are happy, your mouth will be too!!

It's connected underground, so you don't have to go outside from the subway; just head in where the sign says "Shinsegae" and you'll find it easily. The public transport access is the best.
They say it's one of the four great kings of cake on the Korean TV show "Master of Living" (Saenghwaldoi Dalin). There are tons of bakeries in the Shinsegae Gangnam basement, but Chef Cho really catches your eye, doesn't it~~ Such lovely, pretty cakes welcome you.

Are there cakes left in the showcase in the afternoon?
When I visited Chef Cho in the afternoon, the display case had plenty of empty spots. During the day this is a hot spot in the area where you have to queue up to buy. The staff member who helped me was lovely, so it's a friendly place too.

They say Chef Cho uses 100% dairy fresh cream and fruit delivered fresh every day. The cream is said to have been vouched for by a celebrity couple, too. The cakes are made with the skill of a Korean Master Baker (a state-certified title), and with 23 years of baking know-how they run three Chef Cho branches. You'll fall for how softly it melts in your mouth. It's a special experience that completes a precious moment.

How is the Strawberry Mango Fresh Cream No. 1 packed for takeout?
I chose the Strawberry Mango Fresh Cream No. 1. They asked how many candles I needed, and I said just one. I'll stick in a single one to celebrate~ When I mentioned it takes about an hour to get home, they packed an ice pack too.

Thank you for packing it so it's easy to carry.

How did the Chef Cho strawberry mango fresh cream cake taste?
The Chef Cho strawberry mango fresh cream cake looks a perfect 100 out of 100. If it's delicious, it's zero calories, right? Shall we dig in? The balance of flavors blends together harmoniously, the best!! The chiffon sponge melts gently in your mouth. The mango and strawberries are so fresh~ My daughters and I said it was so good and finished it in no time.
The fresh cream isn't sweet and isn't greasy, which I love! Normally I find cream too heavy and scrape it off, but this was so good I ate it as is.

There are even tightly packed fruit layers along the sides, so it was sooo good~ I heard the pistachio one is good too.. so next time I'll try the pistachio. It was a day I fell for that refined sweetness. I think it would make a gift that moves people on a special day, at a special moment.

Should you reserve at Chef Cho Shinsegae Gangnam?
Chef Cho at Shinsegae Department Store Gangnam is a premium cake where reservations are a must, so going with a reservation makes it easy. They also sell slices, so keep that in mind. The quality is flawless, so I recommend buying one, and the taste is incredible, so you won't regret it. Delicious and friendly, so a 100% chance I'll go back. Have a great day today^^
