Wangsimni hair salon one-tone color over patchy roots: Salon de L

Today I visited Salon de L, a hair salon near Wangsimni Station, for an all-over color. I heard it's also a shop where you can use the high oil price relief support fund.

Where is Salon de L, and how is the parking?

Salon de L is at 137 Majang-ro, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on the 2nd floor (Unit 115) of Tenzhill Mall. It's 756 m from Exit 10 of Sinseoldong Station, and you just head up to the 2nd floor of Tenzhill Mall. I came by subway, but if you drive, you can park in the Tenzhill Mall underground lot for free.

Inside Salon de L

The inside of Salon de L is spacious and very tidy. It's a clean shop with a modern interior, and the friendly staff greet you warmly. A very good morning indeed.

It opens at 10 a.m., and some people were already getting treatments. What a hardworking salon! I had booked 10:00 through Naver, so I could get started right away.

My stylist today was the head designer (siljangnim). Friendly and fun, she's the best!! She was quick with her hands and incredibly thorough too.

Can one-tone all-over color fix patchy root touch-ups?

I've been getting my roots done once a month, but somewhere along the way the shades came out slightly different and my hair got patchy. I wanted Salon de L to tidy up the mismatched parts into one clean tone.

When the designer looked at my hair, she said I have a lot of hair and the ends were quite damaged, so she thinned it out and gave it a cut too. It's summer, hot, and my hair felt heavy, so it's so much lighter now. When hair is heavy it just droops down, you know?

Salon de L works on a one-to-one principle where the same person handles consultation, design, treatment and styling, so I trust it. They have loads of regulars, so it's easiest to book ahead and come.

They gave me a drink too, and since it was 10 a.m., I picked orange juice. The nurungji cookie (scorched-rice cookie) was tasty as well, yum yum^^

What products does Salon de L use for all-over color?

I picked a color to make one tone, and I liked that Salon de L dyes with Milbon products. With Milbon, there's usually less itching, you know? They use premium products here.

They apply a scalp protector before starting. The expert's opinion was that my hair looked like 4 different colors, and she said she'd get it as close to one tone as possible.

My hair is long, so the coloring took quite a while. She did it carefully, strand by strand.

30 minutes of natural processing, no steamer

They wrap your hair and set a timer. I waited 30 minutes naturally, without a steamer. She came 2 minutes early to test whether the color had taken, then we went to the shampoo area.

Shampoo and scalp massage

Salon de L has 2 shampoo stations, so it's comfortable to use. They rinse out the dye thoroughly and then shampoo. My stuffy-feeling head felt so refreshed.

The scalp massage was so good that my headache vanished completely. The shampoo felt wonderfully refreshing. A place to heal!

How long does it take from cut to all-over color?

From the cut to the all-over color at Salon de L took about 2 hours, and it wasn't boring, which I liked. After the shampoo they dried my hair well, and when I mentioned I had a lunch appointment, they curled it into pretty chunky waves, so I was all ready to head out.

How did the one-tone all-over color turn out?

The color came out as a clean single tone, and I'm so happy with it. With the cut too, my hair feels so light I could fly away. They thinned it a lot. And it still looks like a lot? Haha, that's because I just have so much hair.
