Songjeong hanok café with clam-shaped ganache monaka: Suwolgyeonghwa

In short

Suwolgyeonghwa is a four-story hanok ocean-view tea café on Songjeongjungang-ro 6beon-gil in Haeundae, Busan. The writer ordered Dalbodre-sangcha (₩13,000), Hojigabae (₩8,000) and Bomulgyeol (₩8,500) for ₩29,500 in total and watched Songjeong beach and the beach train through the floor-to-ceiling window, with the clam-shaped ganache monaka as the standout. The piloti lot on the first floor even allows double parking, though the Songjeong Beach public lot is the backup at peak hours.

Hanok ocean-view café Suwolgyeonghwa overlooking Songjeong Beach

I hadn't gotten a sea breeze in a while and wanted to fill up on that quiet, nostalgic feeling, so on a drive to Songjeong Beach I looked up a nearby ocean-view café. This place turned out so good that I texted a friend whose hometown is Busan about it, and she'd already been here haha. Felt like I'd properly found THE Songjeong café? 😋😋 Here's my writeup of this amazing Songjeong Beach café.

How to get to Suwolgyeonghwa and where to park — 1st-floor piloti, double parking allowed

Exterior of the building on Songjeongjungang-ro where Suwolgyeonghwa is located
The piloti parking lot on the building's first floor

There's a piloti parking lot on the first floor of this Busan ocean-view café's building, and apparently double parking is even possible there. That said, this area near the beach is such a hotspot that the lot can fill up on weekends or during peak hours. If that happens, the Songjeong Beach public parking lot makes for an easy alternative!

Café entrance with a moon lamp and large mirror

Right from the entrance heading up to this Songjeong Beach café, a calm moon lamp and a huge mirror greet you, and you can even hear the sound of lapping waves — it really felt like being at the beach from the moment I walked in.

Hanok-style interior of Suwolgyeonghwa

The moment I stepped inside this Busan ocean-view café, the warm, tidy interior unique to a quiet hanok immediately caught my eye!

Window seat with a view of Songjeong sea through the floor-to-ceiling window

The window seats especially had a huge floor-to-ceiling window overlooking the whole scene — the blue Songjeong sea and the colorful beach train passing by — and I really couldn't help but gasp...

A perfect view where you could get a great shot from any seat. It seemed to run as a bar in the evenings too, so coming at night would probably make for a date course full of atmosphere?

What's on the Suwolgyeonghwa menu, from traditional teas to dessert platters

Suwolgyeonghwa menu brought to the table

Even though this is a café, this spot in Songjeong let you take the menu right to your table to look through at your leisure — that felt refreshingly considerate.

From traditional teas to a traditional dessert platter that reinterprets Korean ingredients in a modern way, the menu lineup was really packed!

Iced matcha monaka menu item noted for next visit

Next time I visit this Busan ocean-view café, I'm definitely trying the iced matcha monaka. It was frustrating being too full to order more — that's how good this place was.

  • Dalbodre-sangcha ₩13,000
  • Hojigabae ₩8,000
  • Bomulgyeol (premium tea) ₩8,500
  • Total ₩29,500

We ordered and enjoyed the place's signature Dalbodre-sangcha platter, the Hojigabae, and the premium tea Bomulgyeol.

Dalbodre-sangcha, ₩13,000 — five desserts on a soban tray with tasting cards

First, the signature dessert set Dalbodre-sangcha came out arranged so beautifully on a small tray that I gasped the moment I saw it.

With such a full spread, each dessert came with a cute card explaining it, which made eating while reading pretty enjoyable.

Cards describing each dessert

My one pick among all of these was the cute clam-shaped ganache monaka — 🌊🌊 the crisp monaka shell was packed full of bittersweet ganache cream that just melted away in my mouth!

Hojigabae, ₩8,000 — hojicha and café latte in one cup

Hojigabae is a fusion drink where nutty houjicha meets a smooth café latte, and it really had a distinct charm. Taking a first sip of the chewy, soft cream on top brought a lingering sweetness, followed by bitter coffee and the mellow, toasty tea aroma blending together harmoniously. The balance between sweet and bitter was excellent, so I'd really recommend this to anyone who loves coffee!

Bomulgyeol, ₩8,500 — a premium tea you smell and pick at the counter

For the premium tea collection Bomulgyeol, you get to smell each tea leaf's aroma one by one at the counter and choose according to your taste, which made me feel really well taken care of.

Drawn in by a sweet, fragrant floral scent, I picked Bomulgyeol, and the moment I took a sip, a mellow tropical fruit aroma and the clean crispness of green tea filled my mouth.

The steeped tea leaves are gently placed on a pretty little golden-leaf-shaped plate set on top of your cup, and even as it cooled the fragrance kept tickling my nose — a healing feeling, haha.

Receipt review gift and the verdict on Suwolgyeonghwa

If you visit, don't forget to take part in the receipt review event! Write a simple Naver receipt review and show it to staff, and they'll give you a fragrant premium tea bag as a gift. I made sure to participate too, and got to take one home happily — just thinking about steeping it warm at home already had me excited >< 🥰

Being able to enjoy a neat cup of tea while looking out at a cool ocean view in a quiet hanok atmosphere made me think this could be the perfect café to bring your parents to. Highly recommend it to anyone who wants to enjoy a special dessert and an ocean view at the same time!
