Where we held a Friday-night group dinner for 11 near Guui Station
We had a group dinner for 11 people at Sanggu's Sotttukkeong Samgyeopsal (상구네솥뚜껑삼겹살), a Korean BBQ place near Guui Station, after 8 p.m. on a Friday! We needed somewhere that could seat 11 and stays open until 10, and Sanggu's was simply the best option, so off we went.

And unlike most BBQ places, this one sells draft beer from ₩1,900, which is perfect for a Friday night~~

Pork belly dipped in handmade ssamjang (wrap sauce) looked really delicious too,

and since it was a rare get-together for the whole group, a glass of beer seemed just right.

Kimchi, bean sprouts and bracken grilled together on the cauldron lid
What I liked about Sanggu's was the cauldron-lid grill, along with

the fact that you put kimchi, bean sprouts and bracken (gosari, fernbrake) on the grill and cook them together~ That's a combination that makes pork belly really mouthwatering, right~!

The dipping sauce also came with pickled onions mixed in~
How did 11 of us sit?
With 11 people, we split into a table of 5 and a table of 6. The 6-person table at Sanggu's has 2 grills, so it was just right for six~

Sanggu's lunch menu and prices
Even though it's a BBQ place, Sanggu's is open at lunch and has a lunch menu, which I liked. There's soy-sauce spicy pork (ganjang jeyuk), gochujang spicy pork (gochujang jeyuk) and a webfoot octopus set (jjukkumi jeongsik),

plus kimchi stew and doenjang (soybean paste) stew for ₩8,000~! It really makes you want to come for lunch too~ And in summer, it looked like a good place to come for mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon (cold noodles, in broth and spicy-mixed).

How much is the meat?
Sanggu's sells a full-plate set (한판세트) for ₩77,000 and a half-plate set (반판세트) for ₩43,000. Our table of 5 ordered the full-plate set.

- Raw pork belly ₩15,800
- Raw pork neck ₩15,800
- Handmade frozen pork belly ₩15,800
- Gochujang pork belly ₩17,800
- Wagyu brisket ₩17,800
- Chewy pork cut (쫀득살) ₩17,800
Price per gram at BBQ places has gone up quite a bit lately, but Sanggu's prices looked pretty reasonable, because

pork jowl and gabeuri (the meat near the pork neck) are ₩17,800 per 200g, and beef short rib meat is also ₩17,800 per 200g~ Honestly, those prices look kind. The sundubu yeol-ramyeon (spicy noodles with soft tofu) and after-meal cold noodles are priced well too~
Cheddar cheese bomb steamed egg is ₩5,000, and the cheonggukjang doenjang stew and kimchi stew are ₩5,000. Priced just right to go with your meat.

You'd agonize over fried rice or plain rice, wouldn't you~~?!
Draft beer and soju prices
Sanggu's has draft beer listed at ₩1,900, and the large one is ₩3,900, which isn't a bad price at all. And soju at ₩2,900 in Seoul? That's a really kind place~!

How are the wrap greens and side dishes?
It's a BBQ place, but having such a variety of vegetables means you can wrap your meat properly, which I loved.

It's not just lettuce, perilla leaves and cabbage leaves; there were things like these too~ Peppers, green onion stalks, mushrooms and zucchini can all go into your wraps, so it's heaven for anyone who loves ssambap (wrap rice)~
You can help yourself to kimchi and other side dishes as much as you like,

and grill them together with the meat, which I liked.
7 servings of pork neck, pre-grilled by the staff
The 6-person table I sat at was full of pork neck fanatics, so we ate 7 servings of pork neck at Sanggu's~~

One thing that makes Sanggu's a good BBQ place is that the staff do the first round of grilling for you.

The pork neck was so thick and big that it looked delicious just sitting there~ When the pre-grilling is almost done, the staff cut the neck into bite-sized pieces for us~ so the grill ended up looking full and delicious~ Truly tasty meat, piled on and sizzling~

The other table in our group, which ordered the full-plate set, piled it on the grill just like this and had a great time eating.

Everyone said they liked Sanggu's and was having fun~ I ate the meat from our table and stole some from the next table too, so it was really great, haha.

And before we knew it, all the meat had vanished;;

Finishing with fried rice, cold noodles and sundubu ramyeon
But we couldn't just leave like that~ We decided to have fried rice at Sanggu's too~ Isn't fried rice on the used grill the proper way to end a BBQ meal~

We tossed the leftover meat on the grill into the fried rice, yum yum~~ And we ate mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon together too~
One more thing: out of curiosity we also ordered the sundubu ramyeon, which is a recommended menu item at Sanggu's! It was such a good ramyeon that I thought I should try adding soft tofu next time I make ramyeon at home.
Even the fried rice to finish the BBQ was delicious, so we had a really fun group dinner near Guui Station~
