In short

Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch is a 330㎡ beef butcher restaurant one minute from Exit 3 of Janghanpyeong Station in Dongdaemun, Seoul. The large beef set (1.2kg, 79,000 won) brings six cuts — sirloin, chuck flap, hanging tender, short rib finger meat, top blade and thin-sliced beef belly — while the self-serve bar covers wrap vegetables and side dishes and the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is refilled with squash and tofu, not just broth. Leftover meat comes packed with ice to take home, which makes Ilbeonji feel like even better value.

A Janghanpyeong restaurant recommendation! Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Great beef, great value, at this Janghanpyeong beef restaurant My review of the large beef set, 1.2kg for ₩79,000

Beef set at Ilbeonji, a Korean BBQ restaurant near Janghanpyeong Station

What kind of restaurant is Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch?

Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch is a beef butcher restaurant at 18 Janghan-ro, 1st floor, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul. I heard there was a Janghanpyeong beef restaurant where you could enjoy a variety of beef cuts at a reasonable price, so I went for a meal out.

The staff were friendly, the meat was delicious, and best of all, I could try many different beef cuts at once — plus they packed the leftover meat for me to take home, which was really satisfying.

How far is Ilbeonji from Janghanpyeong Station, and where do you park?

It's a 1-minute walk from Exit 3 of Janghanpyeong Station (Line 5). Being so close to the subway station made it convenient to visit by public transit, and there's also a parking lot right in front of the restaurant if you're driving.

They also offer free valet service if you drive, so parking is easy too. With good accessibility, it seemed like a solid choice for a family meal or a gathering.

It was easy to find, being so close to Janghanpyeong Station. The parking space in front of the restaurant was spacious, making it convenient to visit by car as well.

Inside the 330㎡ dining hall

The restaurant is about 100 pyeong, spacious and clean. With plenty of seating and an overall relaxed atmosphere, it seemed like a good spot for family dinners, work gatherings, or larger group meetups. The tables weren't cramped either, so I could eat comfortably.

What's on the menu at Ilbeonji

They had set menus made up of various cuts of beef and pork as their signature offerings.

Beyond the sets, you could also order beef and pork cuts individually, and there were various side dishes to order alongside your meal, like yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) and naengmyeon (cold noodles).

The 1.2kg large beef set for 79,000 won: tasting all six cuts

At first I was going to order the small beef set, but once I heard leftover meat could be packed to go, I upgraded to the large set.

The side dishes that come with the set

Basic side dishes that pair well with the meat came out neatly arranged. Onions, shredded scallions, lettuce wraps, and pickled chili peppers were among them — all things I liked having alongside the meat.

Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) is also included as a default side.

They give you a generous amount to start with, but there's also a self-serve bar off to one side where you can freely grab more of any side dish that runs low, and they refilled the doenjang jjigae too.

Grilling the large beef set cut by cut

The large beef set I ordered was a 1.2kg combination of sirloin, chuck flap, hanging tender, short rib finger meat, top blade, and beef belly.

Each cut was neatly arranged, so it looked great, and since several beef cuts arrive all at once, I liked being able to pick and try a little of each. And the portion was really generous.

Given the great value, I thought the meat quality might suffer a bit, but the meat condition was excellent.

Grilling it myself, it was tender with no gamey smell and full of juice. The texture and flavor differed slightly by cut, which made trying a variety of them even more fun.

It was delicious just dipped in salt, and pairing it with the standard onions and sauce added a crunchy texture and a sweet-savory combo that worked really well.

The beef belly wrapped with shredded scallions was especially delicious. I usually can't eat much beef belly because it's too rich, but the shredded scallions were so good I kept eating more.

Eating beef can get greasy after several pieces, but switching between different cuts meant I never got tired of it — that was another thing I liked.

Considering the price, the overall composition and portion of meat felt great — anyone looking for a good-value Janghanpyeong beef restaurant would likely be satisfied.

How the self-serve bar and doenjang jjigae refills work

Ilbeonji Jeongyuk Sikdang Janghanpyeong Branch runs a self-serve bar and refills doenjang jjigae for free. Having a self-serve bar was convenient. It was kept neat and clean, stocked with pickled chili peppers, kimchi, and fresh lettuce wraps — a good variety to go with the meat.

Not having to keep asking staff for more side dishes and just grabbing them myself made the meal comfortable throughout.

And the doenjang jjigae is refilled for free too!

I thought they'd just top it up with broth, but they refilled it packed with squash, tofu, and other ingredients as well. Adding in some beef belly on top made for an even richer, more delicious beef belly doenjang jjigae. Getting to enjoy a generous bowl of doenjang jjigae alongside the meat was another thing I really liked about this place.

Leftover beef packed to go, with ice in the bag

One of the things I liked most was that they pack up any leftover meat for you. I was worried at first that the large beef set might be too much, but ordering it made sense once I found out leftovers could be packed.

Sure enough, there was meat left over after the meal, and they packed it up carefully with ice included, so I could carry it home while it stayed fresh. They also kindly explained how to store it and the best way to enjoy it at home.

Being able to bring home meat I couldn't finish at the restaurant and eat it again later made the value feel even better.
