Baegya Coffee is a Gangneung ocean-view café, a large bakery café right in front of the Gyeongpodae sea. The last stop of a Gangneung trip had to be the beach again. Before heading back to Seoul, I wanted one more look at the sea around Gyeongpodae, so I stopped by Sageunjin Beach — got coffee to go at Baegya Coffee, right on the beach, then walked along the shore to wrap up the trip.

The ocean view of Sageunjin Beach through the huge windows was gorgeous, and the space itself was generous — four whole floors! With plenty of bakery items on top of the coffee, I'd recommend this as a Gangneung ocean-view café.

Where Baegya Coffee is and what the floor-to-ceiling sea view looks like

Baegya Coffee sits right in front of Sageunjin Beach near Gyeongpodae in Gangneung. The moment I walked in, the sea caught my eye first! The blue ocean stretches wide beyond the huge windows, so you get that real Gangneung feeling without even stepping outside.

Baegya Coffee's building spans four full floors, so the scale is quite large. Every floor has plenty of seats, and the space felt open and comfortable rather than cramped. Getting ocean views and bakery items together in one place made it a great place to rest.

Can you bring a baby? High chairs and the no-kids terrace

Baegya Coffee has a spacious layout and high chairs are available, so I'd recommend it as a worthwhile Gangneung spot to visit with a baby. That said, the terrace operates as a no-kids zone for safety reasons, so if you're visiting with a child, just use the indoor space.

Inside a large Gangneung bakery café: the bread selection

I went in to order coffee, but what caught my eye was the bakery. The bread selection was way more varied than I expected.

Looking at the bakery on display, I wanted to try one of everything. It seems like a good spot to enjoy the bread as a kind of brunch, or to stop by when you're hungry mid-trip. Recommended if you're looking for a large bakery in Gangneung!

Three takeout drinks compared: the corn cream shot latte wins

Corn cream shot latte, butterscotch shot latte, and iced Americano — three drinks, all to go.

Of the three, the one I remember most was the corn cream shot latte! A corn latte in Gangneung — just choosing that menu item already felt like part of the trip.

The savory corn cream meeting the coffee was sweet yet nutty and delicious, and the pairing of coffee with corn worked really well together. If you want something a bit special to drink in Gangneung, I'd recommend the corn cream shot latte.

The butterscotch shot latte also had a sweet flavor, good to enjoy like a dessert, and the plain iced Americano had fresh, well-scented coffee too. I went for the pretty view, but the coffee was tasty too, which made it even more satisfying at Baegya Coffee.

Gift sets and the Les Vergers Boiron purée used in fruit drinks

There are gift sets too, so it looks like a good option to bring back as a Gangneung trip souvenir.

For menu items using fruit, they say they use Les Vergers Boiron purée, a premium French brand made from 100% pure fruit. It gave a sense that they're careful about the menu.

If you have some time, rather than just grabbing coffee to go, it might be nice to stay indoors for a bit. Sit close to the big windows and you get a clear view of the Sageunjin Beach sea.

Why Baegya Coffee works as the last stop of a Gangneung trip

Being able to drink coffee while looking out at the sea was one of Baegya Coffee's biggest charms. It photographs beautifully, but the real view was even better.

This time I visited on the last day of the trip. Not wanting to head straight back to Seoul after finishing the Gangneung trip, I stopped by Sageunjin Beach for one last look at the sea, got coffee to go at Baegya Coffee, and took a slow walk along the beach.

After finishing the beach walk, heading straight to Seoul made for a great route for the last stop of the trip.
