Seongsu Western food: 4 signature dishes for ₩52,900, Seongsu Darak

In short

Seongsu Darak is a Western restaurant in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, and a branch of Euljiro Darak (을지다락) in Euljiro. A longtime Euljiro Darak regular pre-ordered while queuing on the stairs at 2pm on a weekend and had Darak Omurice (omelette over rice), Darak Rosé Pasta, a katsu sando (pork cutlet sandwich) and a Darak Ade for ₩52,900. The verdict: Seongsu Darak beat expectations and ranks as the writer's top Western restaurant in Seoul.

I visited Seongsu Darak, a hot spot in Seongsu, for a weekend lunch date! Seongsu Darak is the sister branch of Euljiro Darak (을지다락), and it's seriously good Western food. Here's my honest review of the weekend lunch wait and what to order 🤍

Where is Seongsu Darak, and what are the hours and parking?

Seongsu Darak is on the 2nd and 3rd floors at 20 Ttukseom-ro 9-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul, about a 10-minute walk from Seongsu Station Exit 3. Hours are Mon-Fri 11:30-21:15 and Sat-Sun 11:00-21:15, with last order at 20:30. Takeout, delivery and reservations are all available.

Parking is hard, sob. Honestly, parking is tough anywhere in Seongsu, so I recommend public transport!

How long is the weekend wait at Seongsu Darak?

I came at 2pm on a weekend, after the lunch rush, and the stairs were still packed with people waiting! Turnover is quick, though, so we got in soon haha.

The exterior stands out, but the entrance is unusual and made me go "huh?" The door is shaped like a picture frame, so you just grab the frame's handle and pull it open.

4 signature dishes pre-ordered during the wait

While you wait on the stairs, staff hand out menus and take your order in advance. I love Euljiro Darak so much that I've eaten everything on the menu there. This time I ordered the signatures for my fiancé, who was visiting for the first time: Darak Omurice, Darak Rosé Pasta, Katsu Sando and Darak Ade!

  • Darak Omurice ₩16,000
  • Darak Rosé Pasta ₩18,000
  • Katsu Sando ₩12,000
  • Darak Ade ₩6,900
  • Total ₩52,900

I couldn't get a photo of the event sign, sob, but if you write a Naver or Google review you get one ₩3,500 drink each! You can pick Coca-Cola, Pepsi Zero, Sprite or sparkling water.

Inside Seongsu Darak and the atmosphere

Inside, Seongsu Darak was bigger than it looks (?), with a 2nd and 3rd floor! That's why turnover is good haha. Lots of couples like us, friends and families were there. There were also a lot of foreigners, so it seems the place is famous among them too.

What does the Darak Ade taste like?

The ade came out first! Seongsu Darak's Darak Ade is a pineapple ade 🍍 The cup is a pineapple too, isn't that so cute haha. There's real pineapple inside, so you chew actual pineapple flesh as you drink, and it's really good!!

Darak Omurice, the signature dish

This is the real signature of Seongsu Darak, the Darak Omurice (omelet rice)!! See that fluffy egg? A staff member cuts it open for you and gives you time to take photos and videos.

The soft, fluffy egg with the slightly sweet omurice sauce and the fried rice together is so tender and delicious, sob. It impresses me every single time, and every time I just think "I want to make omurice like this too," and that's as far as it goes,, My fiancé, a first-timer, said it was really good and ate it all up.

Darak Rosé Pasta: can spice-wimps eat it?

Seongsu Darak's Darak Rosé Pasta comes with a spicy rosé sauce topped with cream, and you mix them together to make the base rosé sauce! Without the cream it would have been tasty in a spicy way too, but the soft cream meant even my fiancé, who can't handle spice, enjoyed it.

The cream made it even smoother, and the spicy-sweet savory flavor was so good ❤️❤️ The thick sauce soaks into the noodles and it's truly addictive •••

My first time ordering the katsu sando

I ordered the katsu sando (pork cutlet sandwich) for the first time, and why did I wait so long? Crispy, juicy pork cutlet between soft white bread is seriously insane, sob.

With katsu sando, if the meat is dry and the bread is thick, it chokes you, but here the bread is thin and the cutlet is never dry, just really moist, so it was truly soft and delicious!! Piling the coleslaw on top is really good too.

What a Euljiro Darak regular thinks of Seongsu Darak

As someone who adores Euljiro Darak, I honestly found Seongsu Darak better than expected, and by my standards Darak is the best Western restaurant in Seoul,, Craving good Western food? No questions asked, I highly recommend Seongsu Darak 👍 The menu is varied, so I suggest visiting n times to try it all, like I did!
