400g wolf steak with red wine at Hapjeong restaurant Ragu Hapjeong
In short
Ragu Hapjeong is an Italian restaurant on the basement level near Seongsan Middle School in Mapo, Seoul. The meal was a 400g wolf steak, striploin on the day of the visit, cooked medium, alongside the signature Grandma's Ragu Pasta and two glasses of red wine. The ragu's beef is torn rather than ground so it soaks up the sauce, which made Ragu Hapjeong a Hapjeong date spot worth returning to.

Great pasta, great steak in Hapjeong!! Recommending Ragu for a Hapjeong date.
What kind of restaurant is Ragu Hapjeong?
If you're looking for a great pasta and steak restaurant in Hapjeong, I've found a place I completely want to recommend. Of everywhere I've been recently, this had the best steak and pasta!!! If you normally love ragu pasta and steak, this is a Hapjeong restaurant you have to visit. It's an Italian restaurant with a nice atmosphere for a Hapjeong date.
I personally love ragu pasta, and this place has its own style of ragu pasta that made it even better. First, here's the location info for this Hapjeong pasta spot, Ragu Hapjeong.
Where is Ragu Hapjeong and where do you park?
It's located near Seongsan Middle School. We got there by transferring to a bus from Hapjeong Station.

This is what the Ragu Hapjeong restaurant looks like. There's no parking at the restaurant, so you'll need to use a nearby public parking lot. It was a picture-pretty restaurant, and the row of tree planters lined up out front caught my eye even more.

This is the entrance of Ragu Hapjeong, the Hapjeong pasta and steak spot. The sign says 'Ragu Steak.'

There was a table right by the entrance with the menu laid out on it, so we could check it out before going in. Let me show you some photos of the menu.

What is on the menu at Ragu Hapjeong?
Ragu Hapjeong's menu was simply organized, which made it easy to choose. The steak cut seems to change every day — the photo shows today's steak. Only the name differs by weight; it's the same steak. Special cuts like bone-in ribeye or T-bone could be ordered separately. Grandma's Ragu Pasta seemed to be the signature pasta dish.

On the day we visited, the steak cut was striploin — I personally love striploin, so I was totally thrilled!!!! It might be a good idea to call ahead and ask which cut is being served that day.

Inside Ragu Hapjeong: mood and seating
Right as you walk in, there's a partition with planters on top, and behind it you can see the dining hall, the counter, and the kitchen.

The interior is modern and clean, which makes it a place I'd recommend for a Hapjeong date. The monotone interior had a neat red accent.
We sat by the window — even though it's a semi-basement space, the window was wide so the natural light was really good. If you love pasta, it also seems like a nice spot for a Hapjeong lunch.

They're also running a review event, so you might want to check that out too~~
What we ordered at Ragu Hapjeong
The table setting was neat and well done too. We were in extremely hungry wolf mode, so we ordered the 400g wolf steak. We also ordered the signature Grandma's Ragu Pasta at this Hapjeong pasta spot, Ragu~ And two glasses of wine to go with the steak!!

Since we'd be eating with meat, we ordered red wine. They poured it for us directly, and the color was gorgeous.

All the dishes we ordered arrived~ The ragu pasta came out first, but I wanted to photograph everything together, so I waited a bit and shot it together with the steak once that arrived. I'd already asked for the steak medium beforehand — they cook it exactly the way you want. First, let me show you the dishes we ordered in a video.
Doesn't it look just like a proper Hapjeong restaurant dish? This really is perfect for a Hapjeong date spot. Is there a better pairing for a date than this? Steak and pasta~!! The best combination... it could make love bloom even where there was none.
How was the 400g wolf steak, cut from striploin?
The moment I saw the steak, I felt like I could genuinely fall in love. First, the overwhelming size and thickness~!! If you're looking for a Hapjeong steak restaurant, you have to visit Ragu.

Here's the steak cut in half. Because of the thickness, the very center was close to rare, but since I'd asked for medium, that seemed fine. Cutting off a piece, the inside showed a nicely pink, well-cooked grain, which was satisfying. Only that exact center point was slightly rare, and the rest was cooked just right.
First I tried a piece of steak with the mashed potatoes underneath, and it completely melted in my mouth. The meat texture was so tender, with none of that gamey smell — a genuinely fresh striploin steak.

I loved that it came with whole grain mustard. With steak, I think the basic sauces are always the best.

The basic steak sauce was delicious too. It's a clean plating with no garnish — just mashed potatoes, steak sauce, and whole grain mustard alongside the steak. I was completely satisfied with the 400g wolf steak. Even split between two people, that's 200g each, so it's basically like each of us had our own steak.

What makes Grandma's Ragu Pasta different
Honestly, when Ragu Hapjeong's Grandma's Ragu Pasta first arrived, it wasn't especially pretty or dressed up. But the smell was amazing. More than enough to spark the appetite of two hungry women.
I twirled some onto my fork and took a bite... and wow, what is this? Ragu pasta usually uses ground meat rolled into little clumps, but here the meat was torn instead. Wow... that's a genius move~!! The meat flavor came through richer, and because the meat was torn, it soaked up the pasta sauce evenly, which made it incredibly delicious. This is my number one ragu pasta~!!! No wonder it's the signature dish.

Is Ragu Hapjeong worth a visit?
The red wine we had alongside it also paired so well with the steak. Honestly I prefer white wine, but red wine really seems perfect with steak or ragu pasta. There was just the right amount of tannin, which made the food taste even better. If you're looking for a great pasta and steak restaurant in Hapjeong, I recommend Ragu Hapjeong — the food is delicious and it's a great spot for a Hapjeong date. Personally, this is a restaurant I want to visit again — two, even three more times~!!
