Mushroom ragu cream pasta at Hapjeong pasta restaurant Ragu Hapjeong
In short
Ragu Hapjeong is a pasta and steak restaurant on the first basement floor of an alley off Tojeong-ro in Mapo, Seoul, opened by the Ragu brand that started in Haebangchon in 2014. The mushroom ragu pasta cost 15,000 won and the 250g ragu steak 29,000 won ordered medium, served with a mini salad and a complimentary glass of sangria, and the thick cream sauce loaded with mushrooms was the most memorable dish. With soft lighting and tables set face to face, Ragu Hapjeong works well for a date or a blind-date dinner in Hapjeong.

I was looking for a place to eat pasta in Hapjeong and ended up at Ragu Hapjeong. This time I tried the mushroom ragu pasta together with the 250g ragu steak, and honestly, beyond the food itself, the calm atmosphere and the fact that you can have wine alongside your meal made me think this would work well for anyone searching for Hapjeong pasta recommendations — especially for a date or a blind-date spot.

What is Ragu Hapjeong? The Haebangchon brand behind it
Ragu apparently opened in Haebangchon back in 2014 and has been running ever since. Its signature dish is the grandma ragu pasta, simmered for two days to build a rich, deep flavor — the fact that they've been refining a single dish for 12 years now was interesting in itself.
And when I visited, I was told that in mid-August the Hapjeong branch would be revamped with a new lineup called 'Ricero Pasta.' RICHRAW is apparently a premium sauce brand from the Haebangchon Ragu, made by reducing whole ingredients down into a highly concentrated pesto-style sauce — one 460g bottle is said to be enough for about 3–4 servings. Hearing that the Hapjeong branch works as an official showroom for experiencing RICHRAW firsthand made me even more curious to visit.

The atmosphere at Ragu Hapjeong: calm lighting, face-to-face tables
The first thing I noticed walking into Ragu Hapjeong was that it felt calmer than I expected. The space is mostly gray and black, with red accents here and there, so it leaned more clean and modern than overly decorated.

Pendant lights hanging from the ceiling cast a soft glow over each table, and honestly, that mood was quietly good for a date. The tables are neatly arranged and set up so you're facing each other while talking, so it seemed like a solid pick not just for a Hapjeong date but also for anyone looking for a blind-date spot. It wasn't overly dark or heavy, but had just the right mood to focus on the meal.
Personally, on blind dates, if the place is too loud I end up hearing the next table's conversation better than my date's, haha. This place felt more like somewhere you could eat calmly, without that problem.
Ricero mushroom ragu pasta, 15,000 won with the launch promotion
The first thing I ordered was the Ricero pasta, the mushroom ragu pasta at 15,000 won. At the time of my visit it was part of a launch promotion, served at a special price that included a mini salad.

The mini salad that came out first had fresh greens plus cherry tomatoes, olives, and cheese, which was a nice light way to open up the appetite before the main dishes. Since I'd ordered a cream-style pasta along with steak, snacking on the salad in between worked out pretty well.
The mushroom ragu pasta arrives piled generously in the center of a wide plate, and the first thing that caught my eye was just how much mushroom was in there. The sauce was thick enough to coat the noodles fully, and it looked quite rich just from appearance alone.

Tasting it, the distinctive mushroom aroma comes through together with the creamy sauce, going down smooth and rich.
The sauce isn't runny or the type that pools at the bottom of the plate — it clings tightly to the noodles, so if you like this kind of thick, rich-sauce pasta, it should suit your taste well.
Twirling the noodles onto my fork brought up the mushrooms and sauce together, so every single bite had a clear, distinct sauce flavor. Personally, this mushroom ragu pasta was the dish from this meal that most naturally made me think 'this is a Hapjeong pasta place worth knowing about.'
250g ragu steak at 29,000 won with a free glass of sangria
The other dish I ordered together was the 250g ragu steak, 29,000 won. With pasta and steak both set out on the table, the meal felt like a properly complete spread.

The steak came out in a generous piece on top of mashed potatoes, with sauce and herbs around it.

Even the plating felt clean rather than rough, which made it a good order for a date.
The outside was seared to a nice golden brown with herbs sprinkled on top, and the sheen on the surface naturally drew my eyes to the steak the moment it arrived. Paired with the soft mashed potatoes, the contrast in texture worked really well together.

Cutting into it, the pink inside showed naturally, and the difference between the seared exterior and the doneness inside looked quite appetizing. We ordered it medium. The cut wasn't thin either, so it had a satisfying bite.

And here's one detail that was pretty satisfying — at the time of my visit, ordering the ragu steak came with a complimentary glass of wine.

Having pasta and steak already, then adding a glass of wine on top, definitely changed the mood. It was an unexpected touch that made me even happier, haha.

The sangria was sweet and I liked it. Especially with the option to enjoy steak and wine together, I felt this place would score higher as a Hapjeong date course than as just a plain Hapjeong lunch spot.
Who Ragu Hapjeong suits if you want pasta in Hapjeong
Out of everything I ate, the thick, rich sauce of the mushroom ragu pasta was what stuck with me the most. If you like mushrooms and creamy sauces, or generally prefer a heavier style over light oil-based pasta, this is worth trying.
I also personally preferred ordering the steak alongside the pasta and sharing, rather than sticking to pasta alone. Putting together the mushroom ragu pasta at 15,000 won and the 250g ragu steak at 29,000 won let us enjoy both pasta and meat at one table, and with the mini salad promotion plus the complimentary wine with the steak at the time of my visit, the meal felt even more generous.
That said, please note that the launch promotion and complimentary wine may change depending on when you visit.
Final verdict: Ragu Hapjeong as a Hapjeong date-night dinner
There are plenty of places to eat pasta in Hapjeong, but Ragu Hapjeong, which is also launching the premium RICHRAW brand, felt like it had some real substance behind it — a place that stood out for how well the atmosphere and menu lineup came together.

Eating mushroom ragu pasta and a thick steak in a calm interior, with a glass of wine alongside, definitely felt better suited to a day when you want a bit more atmosphere than an ordinary lunch. It was also a nice touch to encounter the new RICHRAW sauce brand as an extension of Ragu's story since starting out in Haebangchon in 2014.
I'd go back. The sauce itself had enough character that I'd like to try more of Ragu's other pasta dishes next time.
One-line verdict: A good spot in Hapjeong for a date over thick pasta, steak, and a glass of wine.
If you're looking for a date or blind-date spot in Hapjeong, or you just like a rich, thick-sauce pasta, Ragu Hapjeong is worth checking out.
