Gwangalli Korean restaurant: hairtail pot rice and yurinki, Solsot
In short
Solsot Gwangalli is a Korean restaurant specializing in sotbap (rice cooked in a stone pot) on Gwangnam-ro in Suyeong, Busan. Two of us ordered boneless hairtail pot rice, steak pot rice and a side of yurinki (crispy fried chicken in a tangy soy-vinegar sauce). The first-try hairtail pot rice had no fishy taste and came with fluffy potato, and the yurinki coating was crunchy. Solsot Gwangalli is a no-fail, feel-good Korean meal when you can't decide what to eat.

What kind of restaurant is Solsot Gwangalli?
Solsot Gwangalli is a pot rice restaurant in Gwangalli where you can't go wrong when you don't know what to eat. It's already super famous, right?

Today I also tried the yurinki (fried chicken with scallion vinaigrette) at Solsot, and I totally recommend it as a side!

I also tried the hairtail pot rice for the first time. Let me introduce Solsot, a Gwangalli restaurant for when you want a feel-good Korean meal!

Where to park for Solsot Gwangalli
Solsot Gwangalli sits right by the road, so it has no parking lot of its own. I used the nearby Wonjo Eonyang Bulgogi parking lot, but it's ₩3,000 per 30 minutes, so I'd recommend a public car park..

Inside Solsot Gwangalli: atmosphere and seating
We arrived before lunchtime and there were already quite a few customers. There are plenty of tables, too.

Baby chairs are available and pets are allowed, so keep that in mind! The interior is really cozy.

There's an Asahi draft beer machine too, so pot rice with a beer sounds great, haha. Daytime drinking has its own charm, doesn't it?!
Solsot Gwangalli menu and what we ordered for two
Solsot has a wide range of pot rice: salmon, abalone, sea bream and scallop, freshwater eel and more. Sides include cheese pork cutlet, fried shrimp and yurinki! I think it would be fine to bring a kid, too.

Here's what the two of us ordered. It was just right for a full stomach!
- Boneless hairtail pot rice
- Steak pot rice
- Yurinki
Is Solsot's yurinki worth ordering as a side?
I highly recommend Solsot's yurinki as a side. It was my first time having it at Solsot and wow, why is this so good? The portion is just right, too.

The coating is crisp and hot, and wrapped up with the sauce and lettuce, it's so good.
Steak pot rice and how to eat Solsot pot rice
For the steak pot rice, the classic is the best. When two people come to Solsot, I feel like one of them always orders the steak pot rice to share, haha.

Here's how you eat Solsot pot rice.
- First mix the rice and scoop it out into a bowl
- Pour 3 spoonfuls of nurungji (scorched rice) powder and all the broth into the pot
- Close the lid and wait!

Mix the scooped-out rice with the seasoning sauce and eat it. The steak is so tender and the rice is really sticky, haha.
How does Solsot's boneless hairtail pot rice taste?
Solsot's boneless hairtail pot rice is easy to eat since it's boneless, and there was no fishy taste at all. Apart from salmon, I'd never ordered a pot rice with fish, but I suddenly craved it, haha.

It's easy to eat being boneless, with nothing fishy at all, and it melts in your mouth. I mixed it up the same way, swish swish.

There's fluffy potato in it too, and it's insanely good.. a flavor you can't make at home.

The hairtail pot rice comes with a different seasoning sauce. It isn't spicy, more like deeply savory? A combo that really lifts the flavor!
Finishing pot rice with sungnyung (scorched-rice tea)

Rice cleared, and then sungnyung (scorched rice tea)~ Sungnyung really is the way to finish pot rice, haha. The staff were so friendly too, so Solsot was a Gwangalli restaurant where I had a really pleasant lunch!
