On the last day of a Gangwon trip, after a makguksu (buckwheat noodle) lunch and before the drive back to Seoul, the writer picked up a 4-piece potato bread box and a 12-piece bag of jjondeugi (chewy Korean snack) as gifts for coworkers, and the sturdy handle box kept the bread from getting squashed on the long ride. Coworkers loved that Sokcho Bultan Gamja Bread's potato bread has real potato inside, making it a gift worth recommending from a Gangwon trip.

Nowon sushi buffet holiday lunch: cooked sushi, tofu gratin at Kuu Kuu

Hidongi Chicken Seokgwan Branch is a takeout chicken shop at a market entrance near Dolgoji Station in Seongbuk, Seoul. Hoegi Wang Galbitang (회기왕갈비탕) is a galbitang (beef short rib soup) restaurant on Imun-ro in Dongdaemun, Seoul, near Kyung Hee University. Around Chobok, the first of summer's hottest days, the writer and her husband ordered the Energy Recovery Galbitang (16,000 won, 2 ribs) and the Stamina Recovery Special Galbitang (18,000 won, 3 ribs), and they refilled the housemade seokbakji (radish and cabbage kimchi) twice. Hoegi Wang Galbitang made a satisfying summer stamina meal, good enough that her husband, who doesn't usually enjoy galbitang, wants to come back.
