Frozen pork belly with outdoor seating near Sangbong Station

It’s close to Sangbong Station, so it’s easy to get to on foot. The weather was nice, and quite a few people were enjoying the outdoor-style seating. You have to avoid the busiest times if you want to snag one of those seats! There are lots of restaurants along this dining-alley stretch, but Super Naengsam (슈퍼냉삼) is easy to find and sits right on the alley, so the location is great!!

Three servings of frozen pork belly and substantial sides

First, we ordered three servings of frozen pork belly! The pork and mushrooms arrive together on one plate. At ₩9,900 per serving (150g), it’s a nice price. Hyeondol had been singing about wanting frozen pork belly for weeks, so we finally went—and we were happy with it, haha.

The side dishes are set out on a tray with an old-school feel. There’s such a variety that they cut through the richness. Personally, I absolutely love a place that serves seasoned bean sprouts rather than just napa cabbage kimchi... haha!!

The side-dish selection is substantial, and it’s all from the self-serve bar. There’s green-onion kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, seasoned bean sprouts, pickled onions, lettuce and perilla-leaf wraps, minari (water parsley), and more. The minari was fresh, and I loved being able to help myself freely at the bar, haha!

Cool breeze, frozen pork belly, and beer

This looks absolutely insane... ♥♥♥ The windows were open because the weather was nice, and eating delicious frozen pork belly with a cool breeze felt so good. Even after 8 p.m., there were still quite a lot of people. The seating was roomy too, so moving around while eating wasn’t inconvenient. I think there were lots of families, haha!

Beer time, which you simply can’t skip... haha. I ordered the 300ml and Hyeondol ordered the 500ml. The cute little 300ml size was just right for me. The beer was cold, which I loved. It was cool in the evening but warm once you started walking around, so it was perfect beer weather!

Frozen pork belly in minari wraps

The slices of frozen pork belly were on the large side, and the meat quality was good. Wrapping the pork in grilled minari was the best combination. It wasn’t tough, so it was easy to enjoy with the pork belly. There was no off smell at all—it was exactly that familiar frozen-pork-belly flavor we know!

And the seasoned bean sprouts and green-onion kimchi were delicious as they came, so they tasted great grilled or ungrilled. Pork belly usually has the little hassle of needing to be cut up, but frozen pork belly seems convenient because you can grill it and eat it right away!

A proper wrap loaded with perilla leaf, lettuce, and garlic!! I want it again now that I’m writing this postㅠㅠ The perilla leaves and lettuce were fresh too, so making wraps was delicious. Overall, the vegetables and greens were very fresh, so I’m planning to come back often, haha!

Doenjang-jjigae with a whole block of tofu

The doenjang-jjigae (soybean-paste stew) is ₩5,000, and it comes with a whole block of tofu! It’s affordably priced and packed with ingredients. Korean barbecue restaurant doenjang-jjigae is usually quite strongly seasoned, but this one was nicely balanced and easy to eat!! I’ll officially call it a great doenjang-jjigae spot, haha. And Hangang ramyeon is ₩3,900. I would have ordered it if I hadn’t been so full—such a shameㅠㅠ

I didn’t realize it, but this is the Sangbong dining alley. After pork belly, it’s easy to head to another bar for a second round, so in this weather I recommend starting at Super Naengsam, then having a simple second round somewhere nearby!!
