Cheonsangae Jangeoga Myeonmok Sagajeong Branch is a grilled eel restaurant on Myeonmok-ro, the main road between Sagajeong and Myeonmok stations in Jungnang, Seoul. Booked through Naver for 7pm on a weekday, the two-person set brought two servings of eel grilled at the table, eel sushi on a hot stone, spicy oyster jeotgal (salted oysters), doenjang stew and grilled potato, plus scorched-rice tea and janchi guksu (warm noodle soup) to finish. Even a diner who usually finds eel too oily called this meal nutty and light.

Friday-night Yongsan Korean BBQ with garlic sauce galmaegisal: Muttuk

Muttuk Sookdae Main Branch is a Korean pork BBQ restaurant a 4–5 minute walk from Exit 10 of Sookdae Ipgu Station in Yongsan, Seoul. On a Friday at 7pm with a Naver reservation, the writer ordered the Muttuk Handon Assorted Set of pork neck, pork belly and whole galmaegisal (pork skirt meat), plus cheese bomb egg custard and steamed rice, with staff grilling each cut at the table. Galmaegisal dipped in the garlic sauce was the highlight of a generous meal for two.

Hoegi burger restaurant with a mouthwash refresh kit: 1986 Shibuya

1986 Shibuya Burger is a Japanese-style handmade burger restaurant near Hoegi Station and Kyung Hee University in Dongdaemun, Seoul. The writer ordered the Golden Jambon Wagyu Burger set with french fries and the Shibuya Skillet Nobiru Cheese Burger set with wedge potatoes, and found the self-serve bar the standout, with sauces, pickles, jalapeños, barley tea, mouthwash and a refresh kit. For easy-to-eat burgers and a genuinely well-stocked self-serve bar, 1986 Shibuya Burger is a solid choice in Hoegi.
