Bundang hair salon layered cut for cheekbones, square jaw: Yeum Hair

Yeum Hair Bundang Jeongja Branch (예움헤어 분당정자점) is a hair salon on the 4th floor of Baekgung Plaza 1, near Jeongja Station in Bundang, Seongnam. The writer has thick but fine hair and wanted to soften prominent side cheekbones and a square jaw. At Yeum Hair Bundang Jeongja Branch, the writer got a layered cut, a layered C-curl perm, face-framing side strands and a face-line cut, with cut lengths matched to the face shape and tips for blow-drying side volume at home. After years of hopping between salons, the writer has settled on Yeum Hair Bundang Jeongja Branch as a go-to spot for layered cuts.

Gaepo-dong café with matcha cookies and fresh grapefruit tea: Minimale

Minimale Bakery & Coffee Bar Gaepo Branch is a bakery café on a residential side street in Gaepo-dong, Gangnam, Seoul. The writer dropped in by chance on a neighborhood walk with a friend and ordered a Helsinki Latte, fresh grapefruit tea, salt bread and a matcha cookie. Because it was around 3 p.m., the Blossom Babka was already sold out. The Helsinki Latte is excellent, but the matcha cookie at Minimale Gaepo is the real winner, scoring '200 points' out of 100.

Four abalone for 10,000 won at Garak Market fish shop Yeongjae Susan

Yeongjae Susan is a sashimi fish shop at Garak Mall in Songpa, Seoul, inside Garak Market. On the owner's recommendation, two people shared a small three-fish sashimi platter of striped jack mackerel, large flounder and large red sea bream, added four abalone for 10,000 won, and finished with spicy fish stew at the linked seasoning restaurant. Yeongjae Susan posts its prices and platter contents out front, so you can check the going rate and order without any pushy touts.
