Hongdae couples' pasta restaurant with big windows: Rangteu Yeonnam

There are so many pretty restaurants in Yeonnam-dong these days, right?? Every time we have a date, we get a happy headache deciding where to go, haha. This time I went to Rangteu (LENTE) with my boyfriend!

The mood looked lovely even in photos, but after actually going, I was satisfied with everything: the food, the atmosphere, the kindness. I'm still thinking about it 🥹 Today I'll introduce Rangteu in detail 🙌🏻

Where is Rangteu Yeonnam and when is it open?

Rangteu Yeonnam is at 22-30 Yanghwa-ro 19-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul, on the 1.5th floor. It is open 11:30–21:30, with last order at 20:30. Parking is not available.

Rangteu is a whole 1-minute walk from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 3!! So easy to get to on foot. Go straight from Exit 3, then turn into the alley to the left of the GS25 convenience store, and you'll find it without trouble.

Take the stairs up to the 1.5th floor and you've arrived at Rangteu!

White interior and big-window seats at Rangteu Yeonnam

The interior of Rangteu Yeonnam is white-toned. The first thing that caught my eye the moment I opened the door was this white tone! It doesn't feel overdone, just clean and warm overall, so it was comfortable to eat in.

The lighting is soft, so food photos come out well, and it's an easy place to talk ✨ Maybe that's why there were many couples on dates, and I also saw tables of friends. I thought it would suit an anniversary meal too!! The tables come in different sizes, for 1–2, 3–4 and 5–6 people, so it seems handy to book according to your group size!

Most of all, what I liked best was the big window!! The windows are large so it doesn't feel stuffy at all, and the soft sunlight made the space feel brighter and cozier 😊 Being able to look out at the Yeonnam-dong street while eating is another charm of this place. If you sit by the window, I think you can enjoy the mood even more!

For a Yeonnam-dong restaurant with this kind of mood, I felt the prices were reasonable! You can enjoy a main dish for around the mid-₩10,000s..💓

How it tasted: from passion fruit hallabong ade to potato fries

The ade came out first! The tang of passion fruit and the sweetness of hallabong (a Jeju citrus similar to a mandarin) blended well and left my mouth feeling fresh. It was great to sip between bites and balanced the whole meal, so I recommend ordering an ade with your food!!

All the dishes are out!!! My mouth is watering just looking at them.. 🤤

Monterey gochujang cream gnocchi

Gnocchi can turn out too tough or taste like plain flour dough, but Rangteu's gnocchi was really chewy yet soft, with a great bite!! My boyfriend's jaw hurt that day and hard food was a bit difficult for him, but the gnocchi was soft and he ate it happily, haha.

The cream sauce has gochujang (Korean chili paste) in it, so it's gently spicy and cuts the richness of the cream. I never got tired of it until the end, and the balance of nutty and spicy was really good 🙌🏻

Cajun ragu pasta

The pasta was satisfying too. You taste the deep flavor of the ragu sauce, but a spicy kick comes through here and there, so it wasn't heavy at all!

Sour cream on top made it smooth to eat, and the spiciness isn't strong, so I think anyone can enjoy it comfortably 👍🏻

Olive bacon baby potato fries (3 pcs)

It's a side dish so I didn't expect much, but it became my number one pick... hahaha 😍 The outside was really crispy and the inside fluffy. Above all, the aioli sauce that came with it was so appealing 🩷

The savory depth of olive and bacon comes through, so with the potatoes it's sooo good~~~ Also, the dish normally comes with 3 potatoes, but because the potatoes were a bit small, they gave us 4!!🥹 The taste was great, and the service made me happy too 👍🏻💕

Verdict: is Rangteu Yeonnam a good date spot in Hongdae?

The staff were really warm from start to finish, so we could enjoy the whole meal in a relaxed atmosphere 💖 I especially still remember them adding one more potato because they were small, haha. You can feel that they care about even the little things. I really recommend it as a date course, and I think it would be good for an anniversary too!!
