Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 Hongdae Branch is on the 1st floor at 218-1 Donggyo-ro, Mapo-gu, Seoul. Hours are Mon-Thu 16:00-00:30, Fri-Sat 15:00-01:30, and Sun 15:00-00:30.

Straight to Hongdae right after work 💨 It's just a 7-minute walk from Exit 2 of Hongik University Station, located along the main road side of Gyeongui Line Forest Park.

Here's the menu at Cheongnyeon Dakbal! Most people seem to order the dakbal (chicken feet) set. When you order the chicken feet, you can choose the spice level and pick between bone-in, boneless, or tulip-cut.

They also sell great side dishes like hanwoo beef tartare or whelk noodle salad, plus a fish cake soup that's perfect for the broth. And if you join their review event, you even get a free Cool Piss drink~!

We ordered level 1, the Shin Ramyun spice level, and it was still pretty spicy 🌶️ If you're weak with spice, level 1 is definitely the way to go~!

How many seats? Outdoor and window seat reservation tips

Cheongnyeon Dakbal 1987 Hongdae Branch has about 5-6 indoor seats, 4-5 outdoor seats, and roughly 3 half-outdoor window seats. Even though it was a weekday, the place was packed, so I'd recommend calling ahead to check seat availability before heading over!

Naver Reservation is also available! Since it's the peak season for outdoor dining right now, I'd definitely recommend booking ahead :)

With weather like this, it would've been such a waste not to sit outside, so we took the window seats haha

Boneless soup chicken feet and the set, dish by dish

You could choose between boneless, tulip-cut, or bone-in chicken feet. I was torn between boneless and tulip, but since I wanted to wrap it up easily in the perilla leaves, I went with boneless!

Mukbap (chilled acorn jelly noodle soup)

First up from the set — mukguksu! When you're craving something cool and refreshing after all that spice and numbness, this broth is it, no question. Topped generously with kimchi and garnish, I kept reaching for more. There was so much sliced jelly noodle inside that it felt less like a side dish and more like a main dish haha

Kalguksu (knife-cut noodles)

And there's also a filling bowl of kalguksu! The broth is genuinely rich haha. Honestly I wondered if I could even enjoy the noodles after already filling up on chicken feet, but I still ate it and got very full.

Tuna mayo rice balls

You can't have chicken feet without a rice ball... A rice ball loaded with tuna mayo is an absolute favorite of mine!!! You can taste the little crunch of pickled radish as you eat through the tuna mayo rice ball.

Fried chicken skin and fried gizzards

Fried chicken skin and fried chicken gizzards! So crispy and genuinely delicious... Dipping these into the chicken feet broth makes them even better haha

Weak with spice? Add the flying fish roe egg custard

We ordered the egg custard separately! The flying fish roe egg custard is ₩5,000, and it's not included in the Cheongnyeon Dakbal Set, so we ordered it on the side! Isn't the portion here such a good deal ㅠ It's piled generously with flying fish roe that pops in your mouth.

If you're not great with spice, I'd recommend either ordering the egg custard separately like I did, or mixing the bean sprouts from the basic bean sprout soup into the soup chicken feet 🌶️

All of this — soup chicken feet, mukguksu, tuna mayo rice ball, kalguksu, fried chicken skin, and perilla wraps — in one set! The price and the vibe were both really great, so I'd definitely go back ✨🤍
