Sinchon pho restaurant for solo lunch: level 2 spicy pho, Kkua Ewha
In short
Kkua Ewha is a Vietnamese pho restaurant on Ihwayeodae-gil in Seodaemun, Seoul, near Ewha Womans Univ. Station. For lunch, the blogger had the Hanoi Original flame-grilled pho (12,000 won) and the level 2 spicy meat-loaded pho (14,500 won). The broth was as rich and beefy as galbitang (Korean short rib soup), with about twice the usual amount of meat. With kiosk ordering, solo seats and no break time, Kkua Ewha is a good spot for a solo pho lunch around Ewha and Sinchon.

Kkua Ewha, a pho spot near Ewha Womans Univ. Station! I had errands in Sinchon recently and suddenly craved Vietnamese pho after a long while, so I went. Kkua is one of my top favorite chains, and today's honest review is from the Ewha branch, let's go ◡̎
Kkua Ewha hours and location
Kkua Ewha is open from 11:00 to 20:30, with last order at 20:00. Group seating, takeout and delivery are all available.

Walk about 3 minutes from Ewha Womans Univ. Station toward Ewha and you will see the big shop sign. There is no break time, so you can visit whenever you like, which I loved :D

Bun cha (grilled pork with cold noodles) and pho are sold at both lunch and dinner, while the signature set can only be ordered after 4:30 p.m., so keep that in mind!

Is Kkua Ewha okay for eating alone?
Kkua Ewha has everything from tables for groups to solo seats, and you order at a kiosk, so it is comfortable for a solo pho meal. The interior felt like you have really arrived in Vietnam, with a local vibe, and overall it was clean, like a resort restaurant!
With seating ranging from group tables to solo seats, it looked good for a group visit or a solo pho meal. You can leave your bags in the basket below, and ordering at the kiosk is easy. Even alone, you can order without feeling self-conscious. So good, bb

Kkua Ewha menu
The pho menu at Kkua Ewha includes scallion flame-grilled pho, Hanoi Original flame-grilled pho, meat-loaded pho, brisket and bean sprout pho, and spicy flame-grilled pho. Sides include morning glory, shrimp rice rolls, nem (fried spring rolls) and quay (Vietnamese fried dough sticks) ⸝⸝⸝⸝◟̆◞̆♡
We visited at lunchtime and ordered the Hanoi Original flame-grilled pho and the spicy meat-loaded pho!

There is a receipt review event right now that gets you 2 shrimp rice rolls for taking part, so we joined in. Review time, yahoo~

Every table has hoisin sauce and chili sauce, so you can add them to your pho however you like!

How does the Hanoi Original flame-grilled pho taste?
The Hanoi Original flame-grilled pho (₩12,000) is Kkua's signature dish. The spice aroma is not strong, and the broth has a deep meaty richness like galbitang (beef short rib soup). It is my favorite item! The portion is huge, and the broth... honestly insane (P) One sip and it felt like a hangover cure even though I had not been drinking the night before, or like a restorative meal, whatever it was, the broth is very deep and rich!

The noodles are nicely soft yet springy and do not break, so a big chopstick-full is great, and the way they slide down is the best ㅠ It lacks the strong spice aroma typical of Vietnamese pho, and the meaty flavor like galbitang broth is the highlight, so any Korean will definitely love it!

Along with a faint smoky grill flavor on the meat, the broth is full of scallions, which made it feel cool and clean, and I liked it even more ˖˚ ͙ෆ

Add hoisin sauce and chili sauce and it tastes different from eating it plain! The spicy chili is the best.

How spicy is Kkua's level 2 spicy meat-loaded pho?
Kkua's spicy pho lets you choose a spice level from 1 to 3, and when I asked the owner, they said level 2 is about as hot as Yeol Ramyeon (a spicy instant noodle brand). The spicy meat-loaded pho (₩14,500) clearly had a lot of meat at a glance, about double the meat of the regular size, so meat lovers should definitely go for meat-loaded! I wanted something moderately hot today, so I ordered level 2.

The broth tasted like stress melting away, hot and spicy, exactly my taste! The broth is also not too harsh, so my stomach did not hurt after finishing, which made it even better bb

The meat with its smoky grill flavor was chewy but not tough, soft and nutty, and they put in so much meat haha, no matter how much I ate, there was still more meat ❤️

The side dish at Kkua Ewha is pickled onions, tangy and a great match for pho!

Shrimp rice rolls from the receipt review event
The shrimp rice rolls I got from the Kkua Ewha receipt review event!!! They seem to be shrimp wrapped in the rice paper we usually eat as Vietnamese summer rolls, then fried. The fried rice paper was very crispy and went really well with the sweet and spicy sauce drizzled on top. Yum, so good
Kkua Ewha, a pho spot near Ewha, is my recommendation as a great pho place for a solo meal near Sinchon and Ewha —̳͟͞͞♡
