The Hapjeong café I watched being built on my commute
Central Site Hapjeong is near my office in Hapjeong, so I watched the café go up from start to finish on my way to work every morning. To my fellow Hapjeong office workers and everyone hunting for the coffee of their life: today I'm bringing you a review of a hot new café that has become my commute pit stop.
"Oh, a café must be moving in here!" I kept guessing to myself, and then, whoa! When the sign went up, it was the famous 'Central Site Hapjeong' opening, no joke?!
Every time I passed after that, so many people were sitting at the outdoor tables, romantically enjoying their coffee. The moment I stepped inside, the vibe was even hipper and cozier than what I'd seen from outside on my commute.

The hip, cozy atmosphere had already won me over, but what really caught my eye was the roasting machine proudly sitting in one corner of the shop. My gut said, "Ah, this is a real roastery café that properly roasts its own coffee!"

1. In-house roasting and fresh hand-drip coffee
Coffee is by far the biggest identity of Central Site Hapjeong. The beans are roasted in the shop to bring out their character, so you can taste the beans' own lively notes. Watching the barista carefully make hand drip, your eyes and ears,

and even your nose are delighted, a perfect all-senses experience. Among Hapjeong hand-drip cafés, it's one I'd definitely put near the top.
2. Vegan options on the menu
Vegan is something no café trend can skip these days, right?

It felt so thoughtful that whoever you bring, nobody has to agonize over what to order.

How does the iced Ethiopia Nigusse Gemeda Washed drip taste?

Ethiopia Nigusse Gemeda Washed (ICE) is an iced hand drip with floral and citrus fruit aromas and a clean acidity. If you're looking for a specialty coffee to blow away the summer heat, this bean is the answer. The moment you bring the cup to your nose, fresh floral and bright citrusy fruit scents give it a lovely nudge. Then the clean, refined acidity that spreads through your mouth with the first sip isn't sharp at all; it's classy, like drinking a white wine.
The clean, transparent texture typical of washed processing comes through, with no dryness after swallowing and a long, clean aftertaste. Even when the ice melted a little, it kept a juice-like, refreshing, light body, so I could enjoy it to the last drop. If you like acidic coffee or want to fully experience a bean's delicate tasting notes, this will be a great choice.

What does the hot Guatemala Entre Volcanes Washed drip taste like?
Guatemala Entre Volcanes Washed (HOT) is a warm hand drip with low acidity and a nutty richness: subtle smokiness layered with dark chocolate and roasted nuts. I recommend it when you want to calm down and focus on the deep flavor of the coffee itself. True to beans grown in volcanic-ash soil, a faint smokiness sits in the base, yet the balance is smooth rather than harsh, and it's excellent.
The first sip wraps your tongue in a heavy, steady body, then the bittersweet sweetness of dark chocolate and the nutty flavor of roasted nuts build up layer by layer and fill your mouth. As the temperature drops, a hidden gentle sweetness slowly rises, finishing with a very soft, comfortable swallow. If you want a classic hand drip that's low in acidity, nutty, crowd-pleasing yet with a depth of a different class, I'm sure this warm cup's weighty comfort will win you over.
Does the classic tiramisu at Central Site Hapjeong go with the coffee?
The classic tiramisu is the hidden star of the dessert menu, a perfect pairing for Central Site Hapjeong's hand-drip coffees.

The moment you take a deep spoonful, the sponge, so soaked with strong espresso that it's almost damp, melts softly on your tongue. The thick layer of mascarpone cream cheese on top is fresh and rich, yet not heavy at all, with a fluffy softness. The bitterness of the generously dusted cocoa powder reins in the cream's sweetness, which could otherwise be too much, for a perfect balance.
With the bright acidity of the Ethiopian, the dessert's flavor doubles, and with the weight of the Guatemalan, the chocolatey sweetness deepens. It's a truly 'classic' dessert that plays the best partner without getting in the way of the coffee.
Before you go: laptop work, restrooms and parking tips
Even the best café loses visitors if the facilities are inconvenient. Central Site Hapjeong stands out for its thoughtful care for visitors.
- Group seating and Wi-Fi: the interior is pleasant and roomy, great for meetups with friends, studying at a café, or laptop work. Thanks to the strong Wi-Fi, I got my laptop work done without any drops.
- Separate men's and women's restrooms: not the shared restrooms of the building, but neatly kept, separate men's and women's ones, which made me feel comfortable and reassured the whole time.
Where to park for Central Site Hapjeong

The Homeplus underground car park in Hapjeong (Mecenatpolis) is right nearby and convenient. Parking is free for 30 minutes, then ₩2,000 per 30 minutes, so if you're coming by car, remember this tip!
