Dessert café in Garden5, Seoul: Pig Bar ice cream at Wunder Coffee Bar

In short

Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch is a coffee and ice cream dessert shop on the B1 floor of the Hyundai Outlet Garden5 outlet building near Jangji Station in Songpa, Seoul. On a Saturday afternoon of shopping, two of us ordered one Wundergato with hojicha ice cream (₩7,200) and one Pig Bar (Dwaeji-bar) ice cream (₩6,800) and took turns eating both at Garden5's shared B1 seating. Wunder Coffee Bar is a sweet pit stop right in front of the escalator for when your energy dips mid-shopping.

On a Saturday afternoon I was shopping at Garden5 when I suddenly got a huge craving for something sweet, haha! I wanted coffee and ice cream both, so I searched around and ended up at Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch!

From the Wundergato to the Dwaeji-bar ice cream, I properly recharged on sugar, haha.

How to find Wunder Coffee Bar in Garden5

The way to Wunder Coffee Bar on B1 of Hyundai Outlet Garden5

Wunder Coffee Bar is on the first basement floor of Hyundai Outlet Garden5, right in front of the escalator. Personally I found it really easy to locate. Ride the escalator down to B1 and the shop is right there in front of you!

Garden5 is so huge that I sometimes end up going in circles looking for a shop, haha. But Wunder Coffee Bar is near the escalator, so it was easy to drop in for a quick break while shopping. If you're looking for a sweet dessert near Jangji Station, keep this Garden5 café in mind, haha.

Wunder Coffee Bar isn't only about coffee; the menu items with ice cream stood out. When you're worn out from shopping, you want something sweet with ice cream rather than a plain americano... right? haha

The Wundergato and Dwaeji-bar ice cream we ordered for two

There were two of us, so we ordered one each: a Wundergato at ₩7,200 and a Dwaeji-bar ice cream at ₩6,800!

Wundergato ₩7,200: how does the hojicha ice cream taste?

The Wundergato (an ice cream coffee) combines ice cream and coffee, and costs ₩7,200. You can choose the ice cream on top from hojicha (roasted green tea), vanilla or mix.

After thinking for a moment, I picked hojicha! Choosing hojicha was totally the right call.

Hojicha ice cream is sweet but has that slightly bitter, nutty finish, you know? Having it together with coffee, this sweet-bitter-sweet-bitter combo was so good, haha.

Tasting hojicha ice cream together with coffee

Take a bite of ice cream, then have it with the coffee, and the coffee's bitterness balances the ice cream's sweetness, so it didn't feel as sweet as I expected. If you usually like hojicha, I personally recommend the hojicha Wundergato!

Dwaeji-bar ice cream ₩6,800: what does it taste like?

Dwaeji-bar ice cream at Wunder Coffee Bar

The Dwaeji-bar ice cream (named after the Korean ice cream bar with a strawberry coating) at Wunder Coffee Bar is ₩6,800, a dessert with strawberry sauce and a generous pile of chocolate topping on the ice cream. This was the one we ordered alongside! The name alone already sounds delicious, haha.

There's strawberry sauce on the ice cream and plenty of chocolate topping too. It feels like the Dwaeji-bar we all know, with sweet vanilla ice cream + tangy-sweet strawberry + crunchy chocolate, turned into a dessert!

It isn't a wildly new flavor; it's a familiar sweetness anyone would like, so I think kids would eat it well too.

For two people: one Wundergato, one Dwaeji-bar ice cream

If you visit as a pair, I'd recommend ordering one Wundergato and one Dwaeji-bar ice cream like we did. The Wundergato has coffee in it, so it's a bit more bitter and grown-up, while the Dwaeji-bar ice cream is clearly a sweet dessert, and taking turns between the two was a great combination, haha.

Are there seats at Wunder Coffee Bar?

Shared rest area on B1 of Garden5

Wunder Coffee Bar itself isn't a café with its own seating, but the B1 floor of Garden5 Hyundai Outlet has quite a lot of shared spaces where you can sit and eat. Personally, that was a plus!

We were worn out from shopping too, so we sat at a nearby spot and ate slowly, and it felt like coming back to life. When you're shopping, there's always a moment when your battery dies, right? Sitting for a bit with sweet ice cream and coffee, fully charged, haha. I had the strength to shop again!

Summary: when you crave something sweet at Garden5

Some people just want a quick coffee after a meal at Garden5, but there are days when you want something sugary like me, haha. For those times, Wunder Coffee Bar was a good place to grab a Wundergato or ice cream. And since the shop is near the escalator on B1, it's easy to drop in midway through your shopping route.

For the Wundergato you can choose the ice cream flavor from hojicha, vanilla or mix, and I went with hojicha and was really satisfied, haha. If you're someone who ran out of sugar while shopping like me, or you're looking for a café around Jangji Station or Garden5 where you can enjoy coffee and ice cream together, do drop by Wunder Coffee Bar Hyundai Outlet Garden5 branch :) If you like hojicha, the hojicha Wundergato... I highly recommend it, haha.
