In short
Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of an outlet building in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong, Gyeonggi, with a lunch course, A and B course menus and several private rooms that suit group gatherings and work dinners. After weekend outlet shopping, the writer and a child shared samseon fried rice (seafood fried rice) and a small tangsuyuk (sweet and sour pork) while a family of more than 15 held a 70th birthday party at the next table. Where is Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch, and what is parking like?
Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch is a Chinese restaurant on the 2nd floor of the outlet building in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong, the same building as FILA. It is open 11:00–21:30 with last order at 20:30, and closed on the day of major holidays. There is a parking lot, but Hwaseong local currency can't be used.
On the weekend I went to the Bongdam outlet to buy my kid's shoes, then stopped by this Bongdam Chinese restaurant, Dongcheonhong, for dinner :) Parking has no time limit, and since it's in the outlet there's plenty of space, which is maybe why Dongcheonhong is well known as a Bongdam group-meal spot! There's also a bakery café right next door, so it looks like a good place for dessert after your meal.

It's on the 2nd floor, but there's an elevator, so strollers and wheelchairs get up easily, no worries. Inside the elevator there's also a display of Dongcheonhong's recommended dishes, as a designated model restaurant.

Is it easy to go with a child? The hall atmosphere
Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch is really spacious inside and has plenty of high chairs, so it's fine for a family meal with kids. Lots of guests, like us, had come for dinner after shopping, and the staff were friendly :-) For groups, it's easier to reserve ahead through Naver or by phone so you can be seated smoothly.
When I eat out with my kid I usually let them watch videos, and I worry about bothering other guests. But the hall here is so large that we took a spot at the far end with no other customers, so I could eat in peace.

A Chinese restaurant in Bongdam for 70th birthdays and group meals: what are the rooms like?
Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch has course menus and several rooms, so it's a good place for group gatherings and company dinners. While we were eating, a family of 15 or more came for a 70th birthday, hung up a banner and sang happy birthday :)
We're a big family too, so I felt a kind of kinship and silently congratulated the father on his 70th, haha. It looks like you can briefly put up a banner on the wall if you bring one.

How much are the course menus at Dongcheonhong Bongdam? Lunch, A and B courses
You can choose from three course menus, the lunch course, A course and B course, and each needs an order of 3 people or more. For anyone wondering how the lunch, A and B courses differ, I took careful photos of the menu, so have a look.
- Lunch course ₩27,000 per person
- A course ₩38,000 per person
- B course ₩48,000 per person

The country-of-origin board is displayed in large writing, and there's an event giving a cold drink if you write a Naver review, so if you're interested, it's worth taking part for the perk.

What we ate, just the two of us: samseon fried rice + tangsuyuk
At Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch that day we ordered samseon fried rice (seafood fried rice, ₩10,000) and a small tangsuyuk (Korean-Chinese sweet and sour pork, ₩22,000). The basic side dishes were danmuji (yellow pickled radish) and zha cai (Sichuan pickled mustard stem) salad, and of course refills are available!
My kid is a bit older now, so eating out just the two of us works fine. This was our second visit to Dongcheonhong, and whenever we go to a Chinese restaurant we always order tangsuyuk plus fried rice. The side dishes are things my kid can't eat yet, so the amount was plenty for me alone.

Samseon fried rice ₩10,000: jjamppong broth instead of egg soup is possible

Dongcheonhong's samseon fried rice comes with egg soup, which was perfect for feeding a child. The fried rice, with shrimp, carrot, chives, egg and more, is tasty on its own, but with the mild jajang sauce it's twice as good! The rice was fluffy, and the crunch of carrot here and there was satisfying.

Partway through I wished for something a little spicy to sip, so I asked if I could add jjamppong broth, and they gladly brought it for free, so I enjoyed it. If you'd like jjamppong broth instead of egg soup with your fried rice, just ask separately.

Small tangsuyuk ₩22,000: the sauce comes on the side

The sauce came separately without my asking. I forgot to request it on the side when ordering, but they thoughtfully took care of it. The tangsuyuk arrived freshly fried and crispy, and it tasted as great as it looked.
I asked for scissors and tongs to cut it up for my kid, and watching them poke a piece with a fork, dip it in sauce once and eat it up so neatly was so cute I couldn't help laughing. There's no gamey smell, the coating is crunchy and the meat tender, so it's a dish we always enjoy.

I normally dip in just a little sauce, but Dongcheonhong's tangsuyuk sauce is so tangy it keeps whetting the appetite, so whenever I order tangsuyuk here I soak it like this. If you go to Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch, make sure to order the tangsuyuk. It's the kind of dish that calls for a beer!

Jajang sauce to take home and payment notes
Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch sells jajang sauce separately, 2–3 servings for ₩7,000. It keeps 2 days refrigerated or 1 month frozen. I only found out from a poster when I went to pay after we'd happily finished eating.
Not just the jajang sauce, but every menu item at Dongcheonhong is available for takeout and delivery. Note that Hwaseong local currency couldn't be used.

After the meal: dessert and shopping
Behind the counter at Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch there's a coffee machine, and right next door is a large bakery café. With no parking worries you can enjoy the meal and dessert in one go, so moving on to the café after eating seems ideal. And when you're full, walking off the meal by browsing clothes, shoes and bags is perfect too, right?
If you're looking for a Chinese restaurant in Bongdam that can host groups, I recommend Dongcheonhong Bongdam Branch, with its course menus and rooms.
