Why is Slow But Barrel called the "Louvre of Daegu"?
The exterior of Slow But Barrel Daegu has a grass-covered pyramid structure and a pond with flowing water, which is why people reportedly call it the "Louvre of Daegu." So why that nickname?

The first thing you notice when you arrive is the unique exterior.

Unlike an ordinary café, it has a grass-covered pyramid and a pond with water flowing along it, so the whole place felt like one exhibition space.

I heard it was named a 2024 Asia Design Prize winner, featured in an overseas architecture magazine and even appeared on TV, and I could see why. The mood comes out beautifully wherever you take a photo, and there were especially many couples on dates.
What are the seats like inside Slow But Barrel Daegu?
The inside of Slow But Barrel Daegu is really spacious. As you'd expect from a large café, the seats are well spaced, and each area has a slightly different mood, so choosing a spot is fun.
There are spots for studying or working alone, window seats for dates, and tables for chatting in a group.
A space where you can take a short break from a busy everyday life
That tagline suited this café well. There's also an area displaying cute, adorable goods, which was fun to browse 🤍

What's on the bakery menu at Slow But Barrel?
Slow But Barrel Daegu has a huge variety of bakery items, not just drinks: salt bread, croissants, cakes and baked sweets.

- Salt bread
- Croissants
- Cakes
- Baked sweets (gugeun gwaja)

Bread lovers will like it, since there are so many choices!

According to the owner's introduction, they use top-grade French cream and butter and aim for a bakery that makes everything in-house rather than selling ready-made products.

Slow But Barrel's seasonal apricot menu
This season's fresh fruit at Slow But Barrel Daegu is apricot, with an apricot smoothie, apricot fresh juice, apricot-packed ice cream and bingsu (shaved ice) on offer. Drinks include coffee, lattes and ades, but the one that caught my eye was the seasonal, 100% domestic, handmade fresh-fruit menu!
- Apricot smoothie
- Apricot fresh juice
- Apricot-packed ice cream
- Bingsu (shaved ice)

They say the desserts are made with apricots 🍑 grown at Kkumchae Cherry Farm (꿈채체리농장)! Made with real apricots 🍑, so I figured the drinks would be really rich and full of true apricot flavor.

Fresh apricot juice, Earl Grey tea and a matcha scone
So I ordered the apricot fresh juice, an Earl Grey tea and a matcha scone. Pink!

Sitting on a comfy sofa in a big, roomy café, chatting and eating tasty desserts, I had such a good time.
