What kind of café is Slow But Barrel Daegu?
Slow But Barrel Daegu (슬로우벗베럴 대구점) is a large bakery café at 113 Sinpyeong-ro, Dong-gu, Daegu, with indoor space, an outdoor garden and outdoor seating. I went on a weekend while looking for a nice big café in Daegu, and my first thought walking in was, "Wow... it's way bigger than I expected!"
True to a large Daegu café, it's really spacious, and the bakery selection was varied🖤 Besides the indoor area, the garden and outdoor seats are nicely done too, so it's a perfect place to take your time over a cup of coffee🥰💙

Exterior and parking at Slow But Barrel Daegu

The building looks clean and charming right from the outside! Big glass windows and lush green trees go together so well that I was already in a good mood before going in🌳

The garden in front of the entrance is prettily decorated too, and it's a great café to visit on a nice day💚 On top of that, the parking lot is huge, so I could come without worrying about parking🚗
Is the indoor seating roomy and comfortable?
Inside, the ceiling is high and sunlight pours through the big windows, so it doesn't feel stuffy at all💛 The huge interior is one of the reasons I liked this café ( ´͈ ᵕ `͈ )◞♡

The tables are spaced generously, so I wasn't bothered by the people next to me, and with sofa seats, regular tables, window seats and more, you can pick a spot to suit your taste😊
It was really crowded when I visited! Families, couples, groups of friends, people working on laptops, all sorts. But the space is so big that it never felt too stuffy or noisy even with lots of people(ꉺ⍸ꉺ)
Outdoor seats and plane spotting
Outside, there are parasol seats and a separate wide outdoor area where big groups can sit⋌༼•̀⌂•́༽⋋

Stylish tables and chairs sit under big parasols, so it was lovely for photos too✨ Drinking coffee among the fresh green trees was pure healing🌳 On a cool day, I'd definitely recommend the outdoor seats!

On another side there's a much bigger outdoor area•͈˽•͈٩ It has plenty of tables and chairs, enough for groups, and the space is so large that lots of families with kids were there.
Slow But Barrel's hidden charm! Every now and then a plane passes overhead, and it looked surprisingly close, which was so cool😳 I think kids would love it, and it's fun to sit zoning out with your coffee and watch the planes go by(ˊσ̴̶̷̤ ₋̮̑ σ̴̶̷̤ˋ)₊ෆ⃛⁺˚
Drink menu at Slow But Barrel Daegu

Besides coffee, the drinks were really varied, with ades, smoothies and teas☕🥤 Decaf is available too, so even if you visit late or don't want much caffeine, you can enjoy it comfortably😊
Bakery selection and cherry-season menu
The first thing that caught my eye when I walked in was the long bakery zone🍞

Salt bread, croissants, sandwiches, cream buns, ciabatta, chocolate bread, cakes and more! There were way more kinds than I expected😳 If you love bread, you'll probably stand there deciding for a long time, haha.. Everything was displayed so temptingly that just browsing was fun🤎

Cherry season menu everywhere!!!*。⋆*✩(⌒_⌒)✩°。⋆ Looking at the menu board, Slow But Barrel's own seasonal items stood out! Just the names sound fresh🍒
- Cherry ade
- Cherry-packed ice cream
- Cherry cream latte
- Fresh cherry juice
What I ordered: iced Americano, salt bread, castella salt bread

At Slow But Barrel Daegu I went with the safest combo: an iced Americano, a salt bread (a buttery roll with coarse salt) and a castella salt bread🙌

You know food tastes better in a pretty place, right?🥹🤍 I sat at a window seat, where I could see green trees through the glass and, now and then, a plane passing by✈️ The sunlight came in beautifully, great for photos, and it was the perfect spot to sip coffee and zone out🌿
Iced Americano ₩5,500: how's the acidity?

The iced Americano isn't strongly acidic, so anyone can drink it easily! The first sip tasted clean and the finish wasn't harsh, which makes it a great match for bakery items✨
It was pretty hot that day, and one sip of the cold iced Americano made me feel alive again (*≧∀≦*) It cleans up the buttery flavor of the salt bread, so the pairing was really good🤎
Salt bread ₩3,200
The salt bread passed on looks alone! The outside was baked golden and you could clearly see the layers( ´͈ ᵕ `͈ )◞♡ My first bite made me think, "Huh? This is a bit different from the salt bread I've had so far!" 🥹 It's slightly crisp outside, moist inside, and the buttery flavor spread richly

The more you chew, the nuttier it gets, with a gentle saltiness added, so it's not greasy at all and you keep reaching for more! The bread itself is chewy with distinct layers, so the texture is great too🫢🤍
Castella salt bread ₩4,500: what's inside?

The castella salt bread is topped with lots of castella crumbs and filled with custard cream. Personally, I thought it was really delicious too! It looks sweet just sitting there🥹 One bite and it was full of custard🤍

Soft, sweet custard plus the nutty flavor of the bread makes it just right as a dessert(๑˙╰╯˙๑) The nuttiness of the castella crumbs with the sweet custard was a proper sweet-and-salty combo✨ It isn't only sweet; you also get that salt bread saltiness, so you don't get tired of it and keep eating🤤
If the regular salt bread is plain and nutty, the castella salt bread is sweet, soft and very dessert-like! Their charms are different, so ordering both never got boring🤎
Overall verdict on Slow But Barrel Daegu
If you're looking for a big café with a nice atmosphere in Dong-gu, Daegu, I really recommend Slow But Barrel Daegu!🥹🤍 Big cafés can sometimes be all size and a bit chaotic, or lacking in mood, right? But Slow But Barrel has the wide space plus sunlight through the windows, a green garden and stylish outdoor areas, so the atmosphere was really good🌿
The bakery selection is varied, and the salt bread and castella salt bread were tastier than I expected, perfect with coffee⸜( ◜࿁◝ )⸝︎︎ Watching planes pass is fun, it's good with kids, and it's worth recommending for dates or friend get-togethers✨ With a big parking lot and lots of seats, it was an easy large café in Daegu to visit! If you want to relax over a coffee, I recommend Slow But Barrel Daegu in Dong-gu💚
