After lunch on a holiday, the writer ordered the signature summer latte with honey rusk and a peanut sando, and found the big-window nature view and the nearby playground made Jeong Jiyoung Coffee Roasters a good family outing stop. Verdict: Jeong Jiyoung Coffee Roasters Uiwang is a good café to drop into while shopping if you want coffee with your choice of beans plus dessert.

Sanbon Station Korean restaurant, level-2 spicy squid set: Deodolpan

Deodolpan Sanbon Branch is a Korean restaurant serving fire-cooked stone-plate squid and spicy pork stir-fries, on the 2nd floor near Exit 3 of Sanbon Station in Gunpo, Gyeonggi. On a quiet afternoon between lunch and the 15:00–16:00 break time, we ordered the stone-plate squid stir-fry set for 2 at spice level 2 and added cheonggukjang (fermented soybean stew), Chinese glass noodles and steamed egg. The heat was about Shin Ramyun level, and the lettuce wraps and steamed egg balanced it well, making Deodolpan Sanbon Branch a Korean meal worth recommending near Sanbon Station.

Gwacheon duck BBQ couple course with grilling cheese: Deo Chadol

Deo Chadol (더차돌) is a duck brisket BBQ restaurant near Exit 3 of Seonbawi Station in Gwacheon, on the way to Seoul Land. On a weekday visit just before closing, the couple course at Deo Chadol came with grilled duck brisket, fresh duck jumulleok (marinated duck), doenjang (soybean paste) stew and fried rice, plus an added order of grilling cheese, and a Naver Place save event earned an iced persimmon dessert. With a spacious hall, private rooms and its own parking lot, Deo Chadol is an easy, no-fuss pick for a duck course meal in Gwacheon.

Anyang Western restaurant, salchi steak & cheese balls: Two Find Peter

Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a Western restaurant on the 5th floor of Park Avenuel near Beomgye Station in Anyang, Gyeonggi. On a quieter weekday the writer ordered the limited-edition lasagna (₩16,000), a medium salchi steak (₩36,000) and original cheese balls (₩5,000); the salchi steak was tender and juicy, the lasagna was rich with cheese, and the cheese balls dipped in honey were sweet and salty, all satisfying. With wide seat spacing, a photo zone and its own restrooms, Two Find Peter Beomgye Branch is a good-value Western restaurant for dates and anniversaries.

Bisan-dong, Anyang gopchang restaurant via village bus 7: Ilmigop

Ilmigop is a grill restaurant in Bisan-dong, Anyang specialising in gopchang (beef small intestine), daechang (large intestine) and makchang (last part of the intestine). Taking village bus 7 from the Homeplus near Beomgye Station and getting off right in front of Ilmigop, the writer ordered the assorted grill for two, received sundubu jjigae (soft tofu stew) and beef brisket on the house, and finished with apple mango sherbet. Generous portions and meat served 70% pre-seared make Ilmigop an easy-to-reach gopchang spot in Bisan-dong.
