I was craving a quiet hideaway where I could enjoy sweet desserts and fragrant tea. So I headed near Konkuk Univ. to a dessert spot that lives up to its name for total relaxation. It's right next to the busy area, but once you open the door, the air turns calm and warm, almost like magic. This is Café Ohkam (카페 오캄), a name that keeps coming up in recommendations for Konkuk Univ. dessert cafés.
Where is Café Ohkam?

Café Ohkam is in an alley near Konkuk Univ. Station (117-23 Dongil-ro 22-gil, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul), and it was easy to find. Maybe because it's tucked into an alley, it felt calm and quiet. Lotte Department Store Konkuk Star City branch, Emart and Konkuk CGV are nearby, so it works well as part of a day out. It's a great date route too. I walked in feeling excited.
Inside Café Ohkam

"Ohkam" comes from a French expression meaning calm and quiet, which is such a warm meaning. You could tell the owner put real care into everything from the interior to the seating layout so guests can spend a comfortable time here. It was also spotless and very hygienic. There seems to be a cat living here too, but when I asked that day, I was told it was outside, so I didn't get to see it. T_T
Café Ohkam menu: are all the desserts handmade?

Café Ohkam makes its whole varied dessert lineup in the store by hand: cakes, cookies, kaymak (clotted cream), bingsu (shaved ice), tiramisu and more. Unlike ordinary cafés that buy ready-made desserts and resell them, these have a different, satisfyingly dense quality.

They use fresh seasonal fruit and change things up with the seasons, in bingsu, cakes and more. There are also various coffees, ades and non-coffee drinks, so it's easy to enjoy without any pressure.

I ordered mango cake, cheesecake and Uva black tea, then went to find a seat. On the way up I noticed they even had phone chargers ready, which was such a thoughtful touch. I was really touched.
What are the 2nd- and 3rd-floor seats like?

The 2nd floor has seats nice for two, and also seats for bigger parties, so it's a thumbs-up for groups too!!

Go up one more floor to the 3rd and you get a proper outdoor vibe. The café is secretly huge! The mood and style are both on point, so it's a perfect place for a date.

After ordering, I got my seat. Look at the buzzer, there's a cute cat on it. Haha, the owner must really love cats.
How do the mango cake, cheesecake and Uva black tea taste?

The mango cake at Café Ohkam is packed with mango and is seriously good. The buzzer went off and my order arrived, and wow, it looked mouthwatering just sitting there. The mango cake hadn't been put on display yet, but I saw it in the kitchen and asked if I could get it. They said yes, so I ordered right away.

The Uva black tea was really fragrant and tasty too, a perfect match with the cakes. The cheesecake and the mango cake were both absolutely delicious, and I thought, this is a dessert café that really knows what it's doing.

Café Ohkam will be the café I think of whenever I go to Konkuk Univ. The calm atmosphere and tasty desserts left me satisfied.
