A Yangyang travel route for sightseeing after your meal

If you visit a good restaurant in Yangyang, I think it is nice to take in nearby sights too. After eating, Naksansa Temple is great for a leisurely walk, and Naksan Beach, one of Yangyang's signature beaches, or Hajodae also make a lovely route.

Especially if you love the sea, you could head toward Jukdo Beach or Ingu Beach and enjoy Yangyang's characteristically relaxed coastal scenery. Filling up on delicious chicken jjamppong and then looking at the pretty ocean really made it feel like I was on a trip.

If you want to enjoy both great food and sightseeing on a Yangyang trip, I would recommend linking Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong → Yangyang beach → Naksansa Temple into one route.

Do chicken and jjamppong go together? My first bite of the noodle version

While traveling in Yangyang, I wanted a really filling meal, so this was the place I sought out! It is Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong (동네오빠닭짬뽕), a well-known jjamppong spot in Yangyang. The name is a little unusual from the start, right? Rather than regular seafood jjamppong, it serves chicken jjamppong made with chicken as its base, so I was curious and came by. Parking right in front of the restaurant is super easy too.

At first I wondered whether chicken and jjamppong would really work together, but after trying it, they went together far better than I expected. You can choose noodles or rice for the chicken jjamppong, and I chose noodles. Since the broth seemed like it would be good, I also added rice, haha.

After finishing the noodles, mixing rice into the remaining broth made for a truly filling meal. The jjamppong broth here was especially memorable. Perhaps because it is chicken-based, it felt a little deeper and cleaner than regular seafood jjamppong. But the seafood flavor was not lost at all—the refreshing character of seafood and chicken stock worked surprisingly well together.

The broth had depth without being overly intense, so I kept reaching for it. It is delicious with noodles, of course, but personally, I really recommend mixing in rice too!

The jjamppong broth suited a gukbap-style meal—rice served in soup—so well that adding rice after the noodles was a genius move, lol. After a bowl of jjamppong, I felt comfortably full and like I had enjoyed a proper meal during my Yangyang trip.

Why it also seemed good for dining with a baby

I also thought it would be good for families visiting with a baby because the restaurant has baby chairs ready and even provides children's tableware separately. When eating out with a child, it is quietly important whether there is a baby chair or suitable tableware, you know. They had considered those details too, so it looked like a nice place for families to visit.

In the end, I had chicken jjamppong noodles, mixed rice into the broth, and even tried jajangmyeon, so I took care of one very filling meal, haha. If you want to try a deep, clean jjamppong based on chicken broth rather than the usual kind in Yangyang, this is a place worth stopping by at least once.

And because it felt a little sad to have only jjamppong, I added one jajangmyeon too. The jjamppong broth had made such an impression that I was curious about the jajangmyeon, and it was pleasantly good as well.

The salty-sweet black bean sauce went nicely with the noodles, giving it a different appeal from the jjamppong. Having jajangmyeon alongside the spicy, refreshing chicken jjamppong was a good menu combination too. Especially if several people visit, I recommend ordering chicken jjamppong and jajangmyeon together to share! It was nice to try a little of everything rather than just one dish. If I return to Yangyang, I think I will definitely revisit Dongne Oppa Dak Jjamppong! 🍜❤️
