There's a common bias that grilled daechang (beef large intestine) is fancy and always expensive, right? This place is said to have used its own livestock distribution know-how to bring the price way down, specifically to break that bias.

Let me introduce Chodaechang Dangsan Station, where you get top-quality cuts without the price anxiety. It's already earned a spot in the 2024 Blue Ribbon Survey — a certified good restaurant!

When you think of a daechang grill house, you probably picture hazy smoke and a lingering greasy smell — but Chodaechang Dangsan Station completely shatters that image!

What does the dining room look like?

The interior blends wood tones, warm lighting and modern design, giving it the cozy feel of a stylish restaurant or izakaya rather than a barbecue joint. It's a solid pick for a date course, and just as fitting for group gatherings or company dinners.

Modern seating and lighting in the dining area

The tables are spaced generously and the ventilation system is genuinely good, so smoke barely clings to your clothes and it's easy to chat comfortably over the meal.

What's on the menu at Chodaechang Dangsan Station?

The grilled options included seasoned galbisal, salted galbisal, hanwoo daechang, spicy hanwoo daechang, teuk-yang, beef heart, makchang, and hanwoo gopchang, plus assorted set menus you can order as a group.

Beyond the grilled items, there were plenty of hearty dishes too — daechang hot pot, doenjang sulbap (soy paste rice), yang (beef stomach) fried rice, and spicy ramyeon.

Downward vents that keep the smoke away

Instead of a big hood hanging from the ceiling blocking your view like at a typical Korean BBQ spot, a sleek, modern downward vent sits right beside the grill and pulls the smoke down and away. That means you can sit face-to-face and chat comfortably without anyone's view being blocked.

Side dishes and doenjang jjigae (5,000 won)

The banchan (side dishes) included crunchy, tangy-sweet pickles, dressed lettuce, and salad — a nice variety. They balanced the richness of the grilled meat perfectly without overpowering it.

Doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew, ₩5,000). Rice (₩1,000) is ordered separately too, so we added two bowls. Doenjang jjigae just isn't complete without rice...!!

This wasn't the heavy, murky doenjang jjigae you might expect — it was spicy and clear, and paired beautifully with the grilled meat.

Assorted Grill Set A (66,000 won): daechang, teuk-yang, makchang, beef heart

A smart robot brings it right to your table! The Assorted Grill Set A (₩66,000) lets you sample a generous range of cuts — made up of the restaurant's most popular specialty parts: daechang, teuk-yang, makchang, and beef heart.

With daechang and other specialty cuts, grilling them yourself often means worrying about burning them, right? At Chodaechang Dangsan Station, a staff member grills everything from start to finish at the table with careful attention, so you just sit back, watch it cook to perfection, and pick it up right when it's at its best.

Grilled by a skilled hand that locks in the juices, it came out even more tender and moist!

Golden-brown grilled specialty cuts

Beef heart first, then daechang

They grill the leaner, cleaner-tasting cuts first, starting with the thin beef heart. My absolute favorite cut...! It was so good.

Next up: the rich, fatty daechang!

Hanwoo daechang cooking on the grill

They grilled the daechang, with its signature richness and nuttiness, so a subtle charred aroma seeped through.

That soft, rich flavor filled my mouth completely — the little bursts of nutty richness are what makes daechang so addictive...!

Teuk-yang last on the grill

Last was teuk-yang (premium beef tripe), a cut that's almost fat-free and mostly protein, giving it that lean yet chewy, satisfying texture with every bite.

Grilled teuk-yang

No off-putting smell at all — just a clean flavor with a subtle nuttiness that spreads the more you chew. Such a fun texture, that teuk-yang.

Adding the hanwoo gopchang grill (21,000 won)

Hanwoo gopchang (Korean beef small intestine, ₩21,000), served with vegetables. Every cut in the set was so good that we wanted to try even more, so we ordered this too.

Thanks to the freshness that comes with hanwoo (Korean beef), there was zero off smell, and the texture stayed chewy yet tender with every bite.

Perfectly grilled hanwoo gopchang

From the set through to the gopchang, everything was grilled with careful attention to timing from start to finish, so we got to enjoy every bite at exactly the right doneness.

Starting with the assorted grill and finishing off with hanwoo gopchang made for the most perfect, satisfying ending!
