Chat Baker, a brunch café in Gongdo, Anseong: a weekday date with my sister
Chat Baker is a brunch and bakery café on Seodong-daero in Gongdo-eup, Anseong, and I went with my sister right after dropping the kids off. Lately my eldest and my nephew kept taking turns catching feverish colds, so my sister and I hadn't seen each other for a while.🤒 Thankfully the kids are all healthy again, so we finally got a cozy date for just the two of us. I wondered where to go and settled on Chat Baker, the Anseong brunch café everyone has been raving about lately!
As a brand-new Anseong café, it looked so stylish from the outside that I was excited before we even went in. 🏠✨

Is parking easy at Chat Baker?
Chat Baker is inside the 512 Square building, so the parking lot is really roomy. 🚗 Parking is what worries me most when I visit a café or restaurant, and here even beginner drivers can come without stress. Perfect for our area, where so many people drive! 👍
A forest-like interior at Chat Baker
The interior is a minimal, clean white base with natural stones that look moss-covered hanging from the ceiling, which gives it a unique mood. 🪵 It felt like stepping into a secret space in the woods.🌿
Natural elements and a modern sensibility are blended so skillfully that I couldn't walk past without taking photos!📸
The 2nd-floor piano and LP corner, and the moon jar
On one side of the 2nd floor there is a piano, LP records and a turntable, which felt really fresh. 🎶 (I was so busy looking around that I forgot to take photos!! What a shame ㅜㅜ)
On the opposite side sits a big moon jar (dalhangari, a round white Korean porcelain jar), so Western and Eastern looks coexist in a special way. I hear they sometimes hold jazz performances too, so next time I'd like to come back to match a show! 🎷

That day we ordered the Johnsonville rosé cream pasta, mushroom soup, an Americano and a lemonade, ₩39,900 in total! There were so many kinds of bread, and the cakes and baked goods looked so good that I wanted to load up on everything, but we had decided to enjoy brunch with my sister. After ordering, my sister said she wanted to dip bread in the soup, so we added a cheese ciabatta (₩5,500), and it was the best choice ever!

The mushroom soup was better than I expected! 🥣 Dipping warm cheese ciabatta into it, I would have really regretted not ordering it. 🍞 It was a chilly, rainy day, and one spoonful of warm soup made my body melt!! The mushroom aroma was rich and smooth, and I couldn't put my spoon down.
How the Johnsonville rosé cream pasta tasted
The Johnsonville rosé cream pasta wasn't harsh at all, with a mild, smooth flavor that suited brunch perfectly. 😋
Chat Baker Americano and house-made syrup lemonade
The Americano smelled wonderful from the first sniff. The coffee aroma was subtle and clean without being flashy, just right for sipping slowly while looking out the window. ☕
The lemonade is made with house-made syrup (cheong, fruit preserved in sugar), but my sister ate all the syrup at the bottom first, so I was left diligently drinking just the fizz at the end. 😂
How were the wait for food and the staff?
Food took a little while to come out at Chat Baker. Still, I was so taken by the calm, upscale atmosphere that even the waiting felt healing. 🖼️
My sister and I caught up on everything we'd missed and took "life shots" all over the place, so I didn't notice the time passing. Could there be a better spot for a date or a chat with friends? 👫 Above all, the staff were so kind that I felt good the whole time. Thanks to their attentive service, we could really relax.
