Jayang Station bakery café with a 2nd-floor tree view: Stack Bakery
In short
Stack Bakery Konkuk Univ. Station Main Branch is a two-story croissant bakery café near Jayang Station in Jayang-dong, Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. On an early-autumn day still warm enough for short sleeves, the writer ordered a pastry loaf, an egg flan, a pain au chocolat and an iced Americano for 21,500 won and ate them on the 2nd floor, which looks out onto trees. Stack Bakery is a good Jayang-dong bakery for a croissant or pastry craving, or for a quiet break.

I stopped by Stack Bakery near Jayang Station for croissant pastries and an Americano.

What is Stack Bakery Konkuk Univ. Station Main Branch like?
Stack Bakery Konkuk Univ. Station Main Branch is a two-story bakery café on Ttukseom-ro 31-gil in Jayang-dong, with an outdoor terrace too. It looks small, but it actually has two floors, and the space feels stylish, neither huge nor cramped. It would be great for a get-together with close friends, or for a short break with a good book.

There's an outdoor terrace on the 1st floor, and pets are welcome for takeout orders and on that terrace.
It's packed with all kinds of baked goods, so it's hard to just walk past. Since it's a bakery café, stopping in when you're hungry can make for a satisfying day.
Where do you park at Stack Bakery?
There's no parking at the shop itself, so you need to use a nearby public lot. I searched hard for parking and found the Yangpyeong 2-dong office public lot and the Jayang 4-dong public lot nearby. I came to Stack Bakery first, but you do have to park in a public lot.
It's close to Konkuk Univ. and Jayang-dong, so if you're nearby, drop in. You could bring a laptop and rest for a bit, too. It's a great spot for meetups.
A French baker influencer apparently visited for a while and rated croissants, and Stack Bakery reportedly came in first place for best croissant.

What's the atmosphere at Stack Bakery?
Stack Bakery is a place to eat bread and relax near trendy Seongsu, before heading to Ttukseom Hangang Park. Stylish pictures hang here and there, enough to make you feel like you're on a trip in Europe. Even the Eiffel Tower photo felt special, not the usual kind.

The kitchen is open, so you can see staff busily preparing bread and drinks, and everything is transparent. Lots of bread sells, so they keep refilling the trays. It's a busy Jayang-dong bakery.

It's a handmade bakery that kneads dough from the early morning and keeps baking, so you get warm, sweet bread. Someone was making bread even at that moment. Since delicious bread is made here from early morning, it felt like there was a faint scent of baking in the air.
Does Stack Bakery have many kinds of croissants?
As a croissant specialist, Stack Bakery had a really wide variety of croissant pastries.

You can feel the crispness in every layer of the pastry, balanced with a soft texture, which must come from good ingredients, effort and skill. It seemed like there was some special secret hidden in there that ordinary people don't know.

The feast of bread you see the moment you walk in is gorgeous. Pastries of every kind, filled with all sorts of ingredients, made me want to eat every single one. But I couldn't, of course. I agonized for a long time over which of the signature breads would be best.
True to a croissant specialist, there were lots of different croissants to look at, and plenty of pastries too. You just pick the bread you want, and they pack it up while you wait. There are chairs along the wall where you can sit for a moment, so you can wait comfortably.

You can see all the bread through the glass wall. I could look closely at the appetizing breads and how generously the main ingredients were used. It looked like all the healthy, tasty breads were gathered in one place.

I was really curious where they learned to bake so well. Europe? Korea? I just wondered to myself. After choosing for a long while, I finally placed my order.
What did I order at Stack Bakery, and how much was it?
That day at Stack Bakery I ordered three breads and one Americano, and the total came to ₩21,500. I picked the most appetizing-looking breads.
- Pastry loaf (패스츄리 식빵) ₩7,000
- Egg flan ₩4,800
- Pain au chocolat ₩5,200
- Americano ₩4,500
- Total ₩21,500

Looking closely, I saw they have sandwiches too. I'd love to try the sandwiches, which take about 5–10 minutes to make on average. There are set menus, and I thought I should have ordered one together, but that can wait for next time.

A cute croissant doll was smiling brightly. I liked the warm, autumn-feeling illustration too.
Customers kept coming in one or two at a time, and seeing how much they bought, it was clear this is a great bakery. People left with more than 10 pieces, not just one or two. They wrap everything nicely too, so Stack Bakery's Jayang-dong breads are good for gifts or group snacks.
What's the 2nd floor of Stack Bakery like?
The 2nd floor of Stack Bakery has a spacious area where I could rest and enjoy myself comfortably. Perhaps because it's upstairs, the view of the trees was lovely and fresh. The green leaves will slowly turn into autumn foliage, and I'd like to come back when it feels like an autumn café.

Today's bread looked wonderful. Even though autumn is only slowly arriving, I thought it suited the season perfectly.

They're breads that are great to eat alone and look even better shared.

How did the iced Americano and the 3 breads taste?
Stack Bakery's iced Americano had a rich Americano aroma with the shots well blended, and each sip was cool and clean. Even though it's autumn it's still warm, so I'm still in short sleeves, and it's the season for iced Americanos, so I wanted a good one before it gets colder. Today turned into a day of enjoying a delicious, cold iced Americano.
Pain au chocolat
The pain au chocolat, packed with chocolate, tasted as good as it looked.

Pastry loaf
The square pastry loaf was nuttier than I expected, and tearing it apart layer by layer was so fun that I wanted more even after finishing. Its plain, savory taste makes it good when you want bread that isn't sweet.

Egg flan
I ate the egg flan thinking of an egg tart. The moist custard and the pastry layers blend together, so the taste, look and texture all work well as a combination.
If you're around Konkuk Univ. Station or Jayang-dong and want bread, a quiet rest, or pastries and croissants, Stack Bakery is a good stop. It was a day of delicious bread, a cool Americano and relaxing.
