I love bread, so when I go to a café I look over the breads as carefully as the coffee. Pastries with those tempting layers, and croissants with a real buttery flavor, are hard for me to walk past.

This time I visited Stack Bakery in Jayang-dong, where you can try a wide variety of pastries. I picked out several breads to go with coffee, and if you like pastries, I think it's worth a visit at least once.
What kind of bakery is Stack Bakery in Jayang-dong?

Stack Bakery (스택베이커리) is a bakery in Jayang-dong with lots of pastries and croissants. Since I love bread, I didn't want to pick just one; I wanted a little taste of many. With so many kinds, choosing was half the fun.

The charm of a pastry is the crisp outside and the soft layers inside, and the taste changes depending on what's in it, right? I liked that you can choose everything from sweet breads to savory ones that work as a meal.

If you love bread, just looking over the display will make you want to try a bit of everything. I agonized over it too and ended up picking several kinds, haha.

When does the bread come out at Stack Bakery?
The bread at Stack Bakery comes out at around 11am, so if you go around then, the shelves should be nicely stocked ^^!! There's a range from sweet desserts to plain croissants that work well as a meal.
The seating at Stack Bakery is on the 2nd floor

At Stack Bakery, you order your bread and drinks and then eat in the 2nd-floor seating area. Takeout is fine too, but if you want to enjoy freshly picked bread with coffee, eating in seemed like a good idea.
The coffee menu and iced Americano

That day I ordered two iced Americanos and chose a few kinds of bread. When you put several pastries on the table and share them bit by bit, comparing each one is part of the fun, isn't it?

An Americano goes so well with sweet or buttery breads that it's the partner you can't do without the whole time you're eating..!! Especially when you order a lot of different kinds, a clean drink like an Americano seems to suit them.

When I went up to the 2nd floor, there was more seating than I expected! Being able to enjoy bread and coffee together in the shop was another thing I liked about visiting Stack Bakery.
What did I eat at Stack Bakery? From pain au chocolat to sausage pastry

What I ordered at Stack Bakery that day was two iced Americanos and four kinds of bread: pain au chocolat, ham and cheese pastry, sausage pastry and a plain croissant.

Pain au chocolat: chocolate sweetness between the layers
First, the pain au chocolat (뺑오쇼콜라) lets you enjoy the sweetness of chocolate between the pastry's signature layers. The nutty flavor of the bread itself plus the chocolate makes it a good choice for people who like sweet breads.

Ham and cheese pastry: a salty, rich meal-style pastry
The ham and cheese pastry (뺑오햄치즈) has ham and cheese in it, so it has a different charm from the sweet breads. The salty, rich fillings blend with the pastry, and it was a nice choice for a quick bite.

Rather than eating only very sweet breads, ordering a meal-style pastry like the ham and cheese made the combination more varied.

Sausage pastry: when you want something filling
The sausage pastry lets you enjoy sausage and pastry together. With the sausage inside, it's a good pick when you want something hearty, and it went well with coffee too.

The plain croissant at Stack Bakery was so good too!
Breads with lots of fillings are tasty, but I also like breads that stick to the basics, like a croissant.

The charm of the plain croissant at Stack Bakery is that, without any extra filling, you get the layered texture of the pastry and its nutty, buttery flavor, right? Ordering sweet and salty items evenly meant I could enjoy a variety without leaning toward one flavor.
If you like pastries, I recommend Stack Bakery!

The Stack Bakery I visited this time is a Jayang-dong bakery that's good to drop into when you want to try several pastries and croissants together. From sweet items like the pain au chocolat to ones with ham and cheese or sausage, plus the plain croissant, there are plenty of options to pick from by taste. Adding an iced Americano made the bread time even more satisfying.

With this much variety at a place like Stack Bakery, I think one plus is that you start wanting to try the other items next time. If you like pastries as I do, or often eat croissants, it's worth a visit.

If you're looking for a place in Jayang-dong to enjoy bread and coffee together, put Stack Bakery on your list. If you love pastries, a must-visit! I recommend picking out several breads and enjoying them with coffee.
