It has already been several years since my sister started diamond painting as a hobby. She began with small pieces, but now she breezes through fairly large ones too. After!!

You cannot tell a huge difference just by looking, but the surface felt thicker and shinier.

Around this time last year, I gave a sunflower diamond painting as a gift because the parents of someone I know run a hair salon. I sent it by courier, and they got in touch to say they loved it.

Since then, my sister has kept making diamond painting pieces. She gave the owl piece to someone as a gift, and I received a pretty rabbit piece too. But I had never tried it myself, so I did not really understand the appeal of diamond painting.

Does diamond painting need a sealing finish too?

I learned something new recently while taking a one-day rattan basket class. Watching the process of applying a sealer while making a rattan basket made me think diamond painting might need this kind of finishing work too. I thought that, like rattan, applying a coating liquid could help the piece last much longer.

So I asked my sister about sealing diamond paintings, and she said she had always thought that once a piece was finished, that was it. She regretted not trying it sooner if she had known there was an adhesive like this for keeping diamond paintings for a long time.

So we looked into it together and found products made with safe water-based PVA, and one product in a large 247ml size especially caught our eye. It seemed economical and nice because the amount is quite generous. It seems much more reasonable than buying several small bottles.

After using the diamond painting sealing liquid, it really did a great job of preserving the sparkle. (It took 2 hours..) The beads looked clearer, and a luxurious gloss came through.

It made me want to seal all the pieces my sister has made so far one more time.

The nice thing about this bead gloss sealer is that it can be used in many ways. It is useful not only for diamond painting but for other craft projects too. Thinking about it, I feel like it would be easy to use on puzzles as well.

After sealing a diamond painting, the overall finish of the piece definitely felt different. It is protected from dust and moisture, while the colors stay clearer too. Gift pieces especially seem to need this kind of finishing work.

I am happy with it because it is a large-capacity sealer that can be used for several projects. My sister says she now plans to include the sealing step every time she makes a new diamond painting piece.

It has so many uses that I am still deciding where to use it.. I want to try it for rattan crafts too, and use it for other DIY projects. I am excited because buying one seems like it could be used in so many different ways..!!
