Chili pepper udon, old-style cutlet and pork rice bowl: three picks from a regular couple
This time at Haengbokhan Udon Gage we ordered the chili pepper udon with its spicy broth, the crispy old-style pork cutlet that brings back memories, and the spicy-sweet, filling pork rice bowl (jeyuk deopbap)!

Chili pepper udon: loaded with Cheongyang chilies, great for a hangover too

The chili pepper udon comes with plenty of sliced Cheongyang chilies (spicy Korean green chilies) on top of a rich, clean-tasting udon broth. The first sip is refreshing, then the kick hits you at the end. The spiciness was a work of art!

The noodles were chewy and springy too, which made it the perfect Seokchon udon for chilly weather, really loosening up your stomach. The rich broth and the sharp heat of the chilies work together, so it's also great as a hangover soup!!

Old-style pork cutlet: my husband orders it every single time
The old-style pork cutlet (yetnal donkkaseu) is my husband's favorite, so he orders it every time we come! A thin, crispy handmade cutlet comes drizzled with plenty of sweet and salty special brown sauce ♡

It captures that old Korean-style Western diner feel, with the fun of slicing it yourself, and the more you chew the more savory juices fill your mouth. With its crispy coating and nostalgic homemade sauce, I think it would be a hit with the whole family!

Spicy pork rice bowl: my favorite, with a smoky wok flavor
The spicy pork rice bowl has a subtle smoky wok flavor, and the spicy-sweet seasoning soaks into the meat and crunchy vegetables. Mixed up with white rice, it's so addictive that I couldn't put my spoon down!

This is my absolute favorite! The spicy-sweet special seasoning and smoky flavor make it a rice bowl that really fills you up. Totally recommend it!

We ordered a variety of dishes and shared them, and it all went together perfectly. We were very satisfied down to the last bite.
