I absolutely love meat, and duck, which is supposed to be good for your body, is a special favorite. This time I went to Goyang with my partner and found a really great duck restaurant. You all know duck fat is good for you too, right?! Let's make sure we eat it, hehe. The owner is kind and the place has a proper good-restaurant feel. Let me introduce Seokgi Sidae (석기시대), an Ilsan duck restaurant!

Where is Seokgi Sidae in Ilsan, and is it easy to reach by car?

Seokgi Sidae is on Songsan-ro in Ilsanseo-gu, over by the Goyang food alley. I went in my partner's car, and with "Seokgi Sidae" written in big letters plus a drawing of a duck, it really stands out~

Maybe because it was evening, there were a car or two here and there from people coming for dinner at Seokgi Sidae!

Seating and atmosphere at Seokgi Sidae: from outdoor seats to group tables

Seokgi Sidae has outdoor seating too, but it rained that day so the outdoor area was cleared away! Let's head straight inside.

The inside was so homey it made me think, "Now this is what a real good restaurant feels like!" It's very spacious and tidy overall!

There are tables for two in the back, and tables for four all the way up to really big group seating, so it's a great spot for a group gathering. It would be perfect for a whole family coming out for duck too, right?!

What we ordered at Seokgi Sidae: half a seasoned grilled duck and pajeon

My partner and I ordered half a seasoned grilled duck and a pajeon (scallion pancake). The duck grill plate was huge, with parchment paper laid on it.

After a short wait, the seasoned duck came out, and the plate was loaded with potatoes, enoki mushrooms, chives, onions and scallions, all the things that make grilled duck even better.

Lettuce to eat with the duck came out too! They gave us a seriously generous pile of it, haha. The owner is so generous.

What side dishes does Seokgi Sidae serve?

There were so many side dishes! Napa cabbage kimchi, young radish kimchi, bracken, pickled onions, kkakdugi (cubed radish kimchi), cabbage and more, all great with duck~

What's the order for grilling the seasoned duck?

For the seasoned duck at Seokgi Sidae, once the plate heats up, put the duck and onions on first.

Then, once the duck and onions are somewhat cooked, add the remaining ingredients and stir-fry them together.

See how nicely golden it's getting? Maybe because we were piling the ingredients on so clumsily, the kind female owner came over and helped us cook the duck, hehe

How did the seasoned grilled duck at Seokgi Sidae taste?

The seasoning on the duck at Seokgi Sidae wasn't too strong, so it was just right wrapped in lettuce. Ahh, look at this, can it ever be bad? It tasted really good and healthy.

How big is the pajeon at Seokgi Sidae?

While the duck was cooking, the pajeon came out, and the size was totally XXL, haha

You know a jeon (savory pancake) tastes so much better when the outside is really crispy, right? The pajeon here was packed with squid, scallions, carrots and other vegetables, crispy outside and moist inside, and dipped in soy sauce it was simply amazing.. ♥

Trying duck in cabbage wraps

Wrapping duck in lettuce was delicious, but putting duck and pickled onions on a piece of cabbage and wrapping it was even better! Cabbage is good for you, onions are good for you, and duck is good for you, so it's totally health food, right?! Food that's both tasty and healthy is actually pretty rare, so I love that duck is delicious and still healthy. I could honestly eat it every day ♥

Even a free duck soup on the side
