Wondang train-view bakery café, solo kaya salt bread: Pine Terrace

In short

Pine Terrace is a bakery café near Wondang in Deogyang-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi, with a mini zoo and windows that look out on passing trains. The writer visited Pine Terrace alone, sat by a second-floor window with an iced americano and a kaya salt bread, and found that the dark-roast coffee paired well with the kaya jam and butter. Pine Terrace is worth a stop for a slow coffee-and-bread break, especially on a family outing with kids.

In front of Pine Terrace and its large parking area

Parking is really generous here. You can park easily right in front of the shop, and if you go further in, there's a huuuge, roomy parking lot.

From the café's location you can also catch a glimpse of a train passing by every now and then.

Inside Pine Terrace and the second-floor train-view seats

Inside Pine Terrace, split into first and second floors

The shop is split into a first and second floor, so it felt roomier and more relaxed than I expected.

First-floor seats with big windows at Pine Terrace

The big windows mean it doesn't feel stuffy, and it looks like a nice place to take your time while watching the scenery outside.

Stairs up to the second floor of Pine Terrace

I wanted to relax a bit more, so up to the second floor I went!

Quiet second-floor seating area at Pine Terrace

By the way, there's no elevator at Pine Terrace :) The second floor was a bit quieter than the first! On weekends I bet it fills up here too, haha.

The second floor also has a terrace, so on a nice day it would be lovely to spend some time out in the fresh air.

Pine Terrace coffee drink menu

For coffee, you can add shots or switch to decaf to suit your taste. I heard you can even choose the strength of the shot, so it seems easy to tune the coffee to your liking.

There are also lattes, milk teas, ades, yogurt drinks and teas for people who don't drink coffee, so you can pick whatever suits you.

Pine Terrace non-coffee drink menu

There are drinks for kids too, so Pine Terrace, a Wondang bakery café, is perfect for a family outing, right!? 😉

And of course we can't skip the bakery items that go well with drinks.

There were so many delicious-looking breads that it wasn't easy to choose. If I hadn't been alone, I would have picked several to try, sob. What a shame..

My solo order: iced americano and kaya salt bread

  • Iced americano
  • Kaya salt bread (salt bread with kaya, a sweet coconut-egg jam)

After much agonizing, I picked a cool iced americano and a sweet-and-salty kaya salt bread.

How is the iced americano at Pine Terrace?

On a hot day, a cold iced americano is the best!

Dark-roast iced americano at Pine Terrace

I'm told the americano at Pine Terrace uses dark-roasted beans that bring out a deep body and a sweet yet bittersweet taste.

Taking a clean sip of coffee and then eating the bread gave me a sugar boost and a proper feeling of taking a break. If you like coffee with a nutty, savory flavor, you'll definitely be happy with it.

Kaya salt bread filled with kaya jam and gourmet butter

What does the kaya salt bread at Pine Terrace taste like?

The kaya salt bread at Pine Terrace pairs sweet kaya jam with rich gourmet butter.

Kaya jam and butter inside the kaya salt bread

The signature sweetness of the kaya jam plus the nutty richness of the butter made it great with coffee.

It's a good combination for when you want a sweet bread that isn't too heavy.

My husband.. loves salt bread.. so next time I'll bring him along to try it! (Whenever I eat something yummy, I tend to think of my husband...)
