Ilsan ramen shop, Catch Table booking for a cold-weekend date: Gyedan
In short
Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch is a Japanese-style ramen shop on Yulcheon-ro in Ilsandong-gu, Goyang, tucked in an alley across from Goyang Madu Public Library. On a weekend date as the weather turned cold, the couple ordered the signature Gyedan ramen, motsu ramen topped with makchang (beef intestine) and tamago rice (egg rice), then added spicy sauce halfway through to make karai ramen. The verdict: the motsu ramen was the best dish of the day, with smell-free makchang that deepened the broth's flavor.

A cold-weather date at an Ilsan ramen shop: Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch
Gyedan Ramen (계단라멘) Ilsan Main Branch is a ramen shop whose main branch is in Goyang, and I went last weekend on a date with my partner. The weather has been getting cold so fast, hasn't it? Whenever it turns chilly I crave something hot and brothy, and I really wanted good ramen for our date, so I searched for a great ramen place and ended up here. From regular ramen to makchang ramen, the broth was deeply flavorful and the toppings were generous, so we left happy and full!

Where is Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch?
Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch is in the alley across from Goyang City Madu Library. I go to Sonocam Goyang all the time, and it's only a 10-minute drive from there, so it was easy to get to.

Is there parking at Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch?
There's parking in front of and beside the shop, which was so nice. If you're coming at peak hours, it might be a good idea to call ahead and ask the owner about parking spots. And if there's no space, you could park carefully in the alley or use a nearby public car park, right?

How to book Gyedan Ramen on Catch Table if there's a wait
Gyedan Ramen is a popular spot with waits, so it has a Catch Table reservation system. You can even see the menu from outside the shop, which I really liked.

Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch interior and seating
The inside has a totally Japanese feel. You know ramen is best eaten in a place like this, right? Every corner is nicely decorated, with no spot left untouched!

There are regular tables, and also bar-style seats, so it would be great for eating solo too.

So Japanese, such a lovely atmosphere, right?

On the table you'll find napkins, utensils, pickled radish (danmuji) and spicy sauce, so the sides and sauces to go with your ramen are all ready.

What we ordered at Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch
We ordered the signature Gyedan ramen, motsu ramen topped with makchang, and tamago rice (tamago-bap, egg rice bowl). Every table has a tablet, so it was easy to sit back, look through the menu and choose.

Tamago rice (Japanese-style egg rice)
The tamago rice passed on looks alone! The egg garnish is sliced super thin, and it's topped with minced meat and scallions.

Gyedan ramen, the signature bowl
Gyedan ramen is the shop's most signature ramen. If you like the classic, I think you'll love it!

Motsu ramen topped with makchang
The motsu ramen here is one you can't find elsewhere: makchang sits right on top of the ramen! I wondered what kind of combination that could be, and I was really looking forward to it.

Plenty of noodles, meat, and makchang too... doesn't it look so good?

Does Gyedan Ramen's makchang motsu ramen smell gamey?
The motsu ramen had no gamey smell from the makchang at all. Seriously amazing... I wondered how makchang and ramen would work together, but the makchang added to the ramen's flavor.

The tamago rice is twice as good dipped in the ramen broth! If you go to Gyedan Ramen, definitely add the tamago rice^^

Turning the bowl into spicy karai ramen with the table sauce
Once you're about halfway through the ramen, add the spicy sauce on the table and it turns into karai (spicy) ramen! They've got this even tastier way to eat it all set up, so I enjoyed it so much. I also heard the shop makes its ramen with a beef bone broth (sagol) simmered in-house, which gave it an even deeper flavor.

I tried the Gyedan ramen, makchang motsu ramen and tamago rice at Gyedan Ramen Ilsan Main Branch, and if you like ramen, you have to visit once. It's truly the best ♥
