This weekend I made plans to meet a close friend I hadn't seen in a while, to catch up and eat good sushi. We both love sushi, so we wanted an Osan sushi place where we could eat as much as we liked without worrying, and still get good quality. I've been to Special Sushi Osan Branch (특별한초밥 오산점) often, so we went again. Every plate is one flat price, so we got value and flavor together and had a really satisfying meal :)
Special Sushi Osan Branch: location, parking and opening hours

Special Sushi Osan Branch is on the 2nd floor of the Jungang City Wall 1 building at 130 Seongho-daero in Osan, and if you drive, the nearby Unam public parking lot gives you 1 hour of free parking. The building is easy to spot, so I found it with no trouble even though it was my first time there that day. It's also close to Osan Station with great public transport access, so it was a perfect halfway meeting point for my friend and me. If you come by car, use the Unam public parking lot and you won't have to worry about parking.

Special Sushi Osan Branch is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a break time from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., so just avoid those hours. You can also pay with Oseonjeon, the Gyeonggi local currency.
Atmosphere and seating at Special Sushi Osan Branch

The restaurant has a neat, tidy interior with an open conveyor rail and table seats together. Stepping inside, the pleasant interior and the open rail were the first things to greet us. It's also much roomier toward the back than I expected, so it felt comfortable.

You can watch the chefs inside the rail constantly making fresh sushi, so it's fun to chat and watch at the same time.

There are table seats too, so groups or families can sit facing each other and eat.
How much is conveyor sushi in Osan? Every plate is ₩1,890

Every plate going around the basic rail at Special Sushi Osan Branch is a friendly flat ₩1,890, so you can eat your fill without worrying about your wallet :)

Each seat has its own tablet kiosk, so you can easily order menu items that aren't on the rail, or special menu items, without breaking the flow of conversation. If you don't see what you want, just order it, and they have udon (thick wheat noodles) and soba (buckwheat noodles) too~

A basic broth comes out, and on the table there are pickled scallions (rakkyo), pickled ginger, soy sauce and wasabi, so we were all set to eat our sushi with the works!
What we ate: salmon sushi, yukhoe sushi and gunkan

The first plate we grabbed off the rail at Special Sushi Osan Branch was salmon sushi in a vivid pinkish-orange. The thick, long-cut salmon gave off a rich, fatty flavor the moment it hit my mouth and melted softly away. Personally, I liked the one with onion on it.

The yukhoe sushi, which my friend strongly recommended, was piled high with sweet-and-salty seasoned raw beef, and the chewy, springy texture got better with every bite.

They have gunkan (sushi boats wrapped in seaweed) too, and they were plump and bouncy, filling my mouth with a satisfying chew.
Dessert? We finished with seasonal melon

Special Sushi Osan Branch also has fruit, bread and cake for dessert, so you can enjoy sushi and dessert without going to a second place. The melon is in season, maybe that's why, and it was sweet, so be sure to try it to finish.

Delivery and takeout are available too, so it's great value sushi that works for lunch or dinner.
Tips for avoiding the wait at Special Sushi Osan Branch

Special Sushi Osan Branch gets crowded at peak times, so it's best to arrive right at opening or just after the break time ends (5 p.m.). I went at 12 and could still get a seat, but from 1 it got busy :)
It was a wonderful Osan sushi spot for catching up on everything over good food with a close friend. There are also baby chairs neatly set up at one side of the restaurant, so I thought it would be a fine choice for a family meal with kids later on.
