Jongno wine bar for a birthday with your own cake: Dongmyo Market

I thought Dongmyo was only known for its vintage market vibes, but there's a great-atmosphere wine dining spot hidden in the alleys back here?!?! This time I visited Dongmyo Market, a casual place perfect for a glass of wine with a meal!!! Great for dates, and the vibe was good enough for a casual hangout with friends too!! (Passed the test while hunting for a friend's birthday party spot!!)

Where is Dongmyo Market and when is it open?

Dongmyo Market is on the 1st floor at 17-10 Jongno54-gil, Jongno-gu, Seoul, walkable from Dongmyo Station. Hours are daily 17:00-24:00, closed every Monday, and closing time apparently varies by day.

Being walkable from Dongmyo Station made it so accessible!! But it's located deep inside an alley within an alley, so please make sure to find it properly!!!

Even the exterior had this vintage yet emotional atmosphere, and inside, the soft lighting made it so cozy!? Seriously such a good vibe.... I felt like it was the perfect space to have a glass of wine in!

Even the waiting area has such a vibe... Great atmosphere for photos too, so I'd recommend it as a date course... (Definitely coming back here with my boyfriend later... definitely...)

Dongmyo Market's vintage interior and seating

Opening the door, the soft lighting blended with the vintage interior for such a comfortable, mood-filled atmosphere?!?! And above all, the variety of seating options means it works for different kinds of visits!!

The interior was really fun haha

Square tables and round tables are arranged in harmony, and there's seating in a cozy little attic-like space too, giving it a different kind of mood!!! (Kind of felt like America...)

Wine storage and corkage at Dongmyo Market

This must be the wine storage area... wow, such a fun place... seeing so many different wines kept so well lives up to the name 'wine dining'

They use different glasses depending on the wine or beer type!??! So fun, so fun ㅜㅜ

Corkage service is also available for a fee, so it's great that you can bring your own wine to enjoy with the meal!!!!

Even the water station has such a vibe

Every corner was fun, nothing to skip over. The mood is a given, and combined with the lighting, the vintage feel gets amped up even more

Pets welcome and a group room for 10

Dongmyo Market also allows pets, so it could be a great option for anyone planning to dine out with their dog!!

Further inside the store, there's a group room that fits up to 10 people, which looked great for work dinners or any kind of gathering!!! Perfect for a get-together over a glass or two of wine!

We visited in the evening and ordered a glass of wine each along with our meal!!! The atmosphere let us sip slowly and enjoy the meal, and we lost track of time staying there hahaha

Market pork chop (₩18,000)

The market pork chop is ₩18,000, and it caught my eye with its appetizing look right away, and the meat was moist and tender enough to enjoy without any guilt. Ah, I'm craving it again ㅜㅜ that delicious taste ㅜ

The rich sauce paired so well with the meat and added a lovely savoriness, and eating it alongside the seafood butter pasta was such a great combo. Meat and seafood together, hahaha. If you're deciding on a main, I really recommend ordering the market pork chop alongside it! Seriously

Seafood butter pasta (₩21,000)

The seafood butter pasta is ₩21,000. The nutty richness of the butter wrapped around the whole pasta without being heavy (if anything, it tasted refreshing?!?), so I could enjoy it deliciously all the way to the end ㅠㅠ

There was plenty of seafood like shrimp and squid, giving it a great bite, and the fresh seafood flavor matched the butter sauce so well?! As expected... they really know their stuff.... The noodles had just the right al dente texture, which made it even more satisfying — a dish with clean yet deep flavor that's really charming!! It paired so well with the pork chop

Is Dongmyo Market good for a friend's birthday party?

Honestly this was a spot I searched for in a rush for my friend's birthday, but I feel like I found such a great place ㅜㅜ Once the weather cools down a bit more, it'd be great to come back here for a gathering too.

Clinking wine glasses and cheering to the birthday (we asked permission in advance and brought in outside food!!!) I knew Dongmyo for its vintage market, but I never knew there was also such a great-atmosphere dining space here too hahaha

If you're looking for a date spot, a great wine bar, or a gathering spot near Dongmyo Station, this place has high satisfaction, so I'd recommend giving it a visit!!! The atmosphere, the food, and the wine — all satisfying at Dongmyo Market. Somewhere I'd love to come back to try other menu items next time!! Wine isn't hard after all!!!!
