Sindang Station izakaya with a junmai sake sashimi set: Nuridam

In short

Nuridam is an aged sashimi izakaya on Toegye-ro 81-gil near Sindang Station in Jung-gu, Seoul. Two people ate their fill on the Nuridam set — the small assorted aged sashimi platter plus abalone intestine cream pasta — with a bottle of junmai sake, and because the platter also includes Majang-dong beef sashimi, ordering is easy even with someone who isn't big on seafood. Aged sashimi with abalone intestine cream pasta is the combination to get at Nuridam.

Nuridam, an aged sashimi izakaya near Sindang Station, main photo

Sindang Station restaurant recommendation: Nuridam, an aged sashimi izakaya in Sindang

I went to Nuridam, a well-known spot near Sindang Station! The vibe was great and the tables were spaced generously, so it worked fine as a date spot, and there's separate group seating too, so it seemed good for anyone looking for a Sindang Station spot for a work dinner. Above all, everything we ordered that day was delicious, so overall satisfaction was really high.

Usually when you say izakaya, it's mostly raw fish dishes, which can make it awkward to bring someone who isn't into seafood. But Nuridam has a wide range of dishes from aged sashimi to beef sashimi to pasta, so it seemed easy to find something no matter who you go with. So today I'll introduce Nuridam, a Sindang Station favorite.

Where is Nuridam? Toegye-ro 81-gil by Sindang Station

Nuridam's exterior and location on Toegye-ro 81-gil near Sindang Station

Nuridam sits right near Sindang Station. There are so many restaurants and bars around Sindang that it's a great spot to grab dinner or find a second-round place, and Nuridam is one where you can have both a good atmosphere and good food.

Inside Nuridam: wide tables, big windows and group seating

Seating by Nuridam's floor-to-ceiling windows

Here's the interior of Nuridam. Overall there are a lot of table seats and the spacing between tables is wide, so it never felt cramped. There were actually quite a few couples on dates, and there's separate group seating too, so it looked like a solid option for a Sindang Station work dinner or gathering.

The floor-to-ceiling windows let you see the street outside, and I liked being able to feel Sindang's particular hip, lively energy while eating.

The free starter snack and barley tea at Nuridam

Nuridam's fried-bread-style complimentary snack

The complimentary snack was something like fried white bread — crispy, and weirdly addictive, kept reaching for it. And instead of water, Nuridam serves barley tea. Personally I love it when bars serve barley tea. It's great to sip between drinks, and it goes down so much easier than plain water!

Nuridam's menu and what comes in the set

Nuridam's menu board listing aged sashimi and abalone intestine cream pasta

Nuridam's signature dish is definitely the aged sashimi, and the abalone intestine cream pasta is apparently another popular order. That day we ordered the set menu — Nuridam assorted platter plus abalone intestine cream pasta. Just eating raw fish alone can feel a bit lacking, so I liked that we got pasta with it too.

Junmai sake and the rest of Nuridam's drinks list

Junmai sake ordered at Nuridam

That day we also ordered junmai sake for the first time in a while. Sake really does pair perfectly with aged sashimi. Nuridam has quite a variety of sake, plus highballs and other drinks, so it seems like a good place to bring people with different tastes. If you're looking for a Sindang izakaya, you'll probably be especially happy with the range of drinks here.

Nuridam's aged sashimi platter: the small size feeds two

Nuridam's aged sashimi assorted platter — finally, the assortment arrived! Looking at the photos again makes me want to eat it all over. Nuridam serves a good variety of sashimi types, and even though we ordered the small size, the portion was generous enough that two of us ate until we were completely full. Depending on how it's composed, it might even work for three people sharing.

The assorted platter also comes with beef sashimi, not just raw fish. The beef sashimi apparently uses fresh meat sourced from Majang-dong. The first bite hit with a strong, rich meat flavor, and the texture was chewy yet tender — really good. It paired well with the accompanying sauce too, and personally it was one of the most memorable items on the platter.

Nuridam's chewy aged sashimi assortment

The sashimi looked fresh just from the look of it, and it was well aged, so the texture overall was wonderfully chewy. Most of all, there was almost no fishy smell, which made it fun to try each type one by one.

Nuridam's well-marbled tuna sashimi

The tuna sashimi in particular was really high quality. It held up fine against a dedicated tuna restaurant — the fat content was well balanced and it was soft enough to almost melt in your mouth. If you like aged sashimi, I really recommend ordering Nuridam's assorted platter.

Abalone intestine cream pasta topped with abalone meat

What does the abalone intestine cream pasta taste like?

And the abalone intestine cream pasta we really enjoyed that day! It's pasta made with a cream sauce using abalone intestines, and the nuttiness and savory depth unique to abalone intestines were really strong. It had a much deeper, richer flavor than a regular cream pasta, and it paired well with the sashimi too.

Abalone intestine cream pasta eaten down to almost all the sauce

Both my friend and I aren't usually big eaters, but we finished this pasta down to almost every last bit of sauce. That's how memorable this dish was that day. There was also a generous amount of actual abalone meat on top, so you could enjoy the softness of the cream sauce along with the chewy texture of the abalone together. If you visit Nuridam, I really want to recommend the aged sashimi plus abalone intestine cream pasta combination.

Wrap-up: who should go to Nuridam?

Today I introduced Nuridam, a favorite near Sindang Station. From aged sashimi to beef sashimi to abalone intestine cream pasta, every single dish was satisfying, and the atmosphere was clean and pleasant, making it good for a date too. There's group seating available as well, so it looks like a solid choice for anyone looking for a Sindang Station work dinner or gathering spot.

Above all, I liked that there were more menu options beyond raw fish compared to a typical sashimi restaurant or izakaya, which makes it easier for a group to visit together. If you're looking for an izakaya near Sindang Station with good aged sashimi, or a Sindang Station bar or date spot, I'd say Nuridam is worth a visit :)
