Samgyetang with ginseng wine near Dongtan Station: Dream Samgyetang

Dream Samgyetang is a samgyetang (ginseng chicken soup) restaurant on the 2nd floor, unit 201, of the Central Park View building at 128 Dongtan-yeokro, Dongtan-gu, Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do. It's open daily from 10:30 AM to 10:30 PM, has parking, takes reservations, and even has a private room.

Where is Dream Samgyetang near Dongtan Station, and is there parking?

For malbok, my husband and I went to Dongtan Station for samgyetang. Dream Samgyetang is the number one samgyetang spot near the station! It's only a 5-minute walk from Dongtan Station, so it's super accessible 👍

We drove there, and the parking lot was spacious with plenty of spots, so parking was really easy. They also offer parking support, so if you're comfortable driving, I'd recommend it!

Inside Dream Samgyetang: the private room, solo tables and family seating

The restaurant overall was clean and really cool inside 💨 Given that samgyetang naturally makes you warm as you eat, the place being so nicely air-conditioned made the whole meal super comfortable. The space is spacious with wide gaps between tables, so it looked great for eating solo too — and there really were solo diners there.

And here's Dream Samgyetang's special feature! There's a private room 🚪 You can close the door, so it seems great for family gatherings or company dinners too.

What we ordered and what it cost: mung bean samgyetang and Dream samgyetang

As a samgyetang specialist, the menu is full of different samgyetang varieties: Dream samgyetang, spicy abalone samgyetang, herbal samgyetang, and more. Since we wanted the true, classic experience, we ordered the mung bean samgyetang and the Dream samgyetang 🐔

Side dishes and the self-serve kimchi corner

Once you order, side dishes that pair well with samgyetang come out: diced radish kimchi, fully fermented kimchi, radish kimchi, and more.

If the side dishes run low, there's a self-serve corner you can use. I'm someone who can't eat samgyetang without kimchi, but I also feel awkward asking for refills... so having the self-serve corner was such a relief.

Personally, this kimchi was the real MVP! It's the fully fermented kind, and it genuinely tasted like proper, well-aged Korean kimchi rather than the imported kind — it paired so well with the samgyetang. Definitely try it alongside your soup.

How does the Dream samgyetang broth taste? Thick and rich in a stone pot

Not long after ordering, the soups arrived quickly. On the left is the Dream samgyetang, on the right the mung bean samgyetang. The mung bean version had mung bean powder sprinkled on top. And the Dream samgyetang felt like it had a slightly thicker broth?!

Another unique thing about Dream Samgyetang! They give you a cup of ginseng wine 〰️ One drink a day is medicinal, they say, and here it's ginseng wine of all things. We got our first round of restorative nourishment from the ginseng wine before even touching the soup.

The samgyetang comes out piping hot in a stone pot, but since the restaurant was so cool, we never got overheated while eating — though inside, it felt so warm and nourishing, truly like proper recovery food 👍

The chicken fills the entire stone pot — it's really big, but the meat was so tender it was easy to pick off the bone.

I mentioned the broth was a bit thick earlier — this is about the consistency! Clean yet thick, rich and full-bodied, with real depth of flavor. They say it's simmered with 10 ingredients for an hour, and the broth proves it.

What the mung bean samgyetang tastes like

I also tried a bit of the mung bean samgyetang my husband ordered — the chicken was just as tender and the broth just as rich, but with a bit more mung bean flavor coming through?! If you like mung beans, I'd recommend this one!

Inside the chicken, it's packed with sticky rice, garlic, jujube, and more, so it was great for cleaning up the broth to the last drop.

My husband said the broth was so good he ordered an extra bowl of rice. Interestingly, the rice was yellow! It tasted the same, but the yellow color was so intriguing. I was completely full from just one bowl of samgyetang, so if you have leftover broth or a big appetite, I'd recommend getting extra rice~

And on our way out, they had plum tea ready for us. Finishing with this traditional Korean digestive plum tea made for a meal that was both filling and easy on the stomach 🐷

We were so satisfied with Dream Samgyetang. From the ginseng wine to the nutrient-packed samgyetang to the plum tea... it was such a filling meal. They apparently offer delivery too, so I'd recommend it for anyone eating at home or looking for a holiday gift!
