After a meal, I always crave something sweet, right? That day I wanted cool shaved ice to share rather than just a drink. I was drawn to the look of taerae bingsu (thread-style shaved ice) topped with fresh melon, so I headed to Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch (타래퀸 경성대점) 🪽🤍

What is the atmosphere at Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch like?
Inside, the café is a cute space blending soft pink and cream. The lower part of the walls is a pink accent, and the upper part is lit with gentle lighting, so it felt soft and lovely. The neon decorations on the wall were adorable too, and my eyes kept going to them.
Tables continue all the way to the back, with light-colored tables and chairs that kept everything neat and clean. It was a great mood for sitting across from friends, eating bingsu and chatting. If you like a cute, charming vibe among Kyungsung University dessert cafés, this should suit your taste.

How does the fresh melon taerae bingsu come out?
We picked the fresh melon taerae bingsu so we could enjoy fruit too. 🍈 It's thread-style shaved ice surrounded by fresh melon.

The thread bingsu is stacked in a square in the middle of a wide plate, with bite-sized melon pieces on both sides. And here it is, finally, the fresh melon taerae bingsu! Even the small rice cake on top was a cute touch.
From afar it looks a bit like a white cake, but up close the very fine strands of ice are layered tightly. When I scooped a little with my spoon, the thin strands stayed intact, a look quite different from ordinary bingsu.

You can choose milk or melon flavor for the thread ice
For the thread ice in Taerae Queen's fresh melon taerae bingsu, you can choose between milk and melon flavor. If you're after something soft and nutty, go milk; if you want more melon flavor, go melon, right? I liked that you can choose to suit your taste.
What is the texture of taerae bingsu like?
🥄 The thread-thin ice melting softly in your mouth was the charm of this taerae bingsu. Rather than crunching hard ice, it melts light and soft, so I kept going back for more.

I tried the bingsu on its own first, then scooped it up together with the melon. With juicy melon added to the soft ice, each bite felt much richer. Adding the separately served cereal here and there gave a crunchy texture too.
Is Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch worth visiting again?
Pretty looks, soft texture, and fresh melon too: that was Taerae Queen Kyungsung University Branch! Next time I want to try the other thread flavors!! It's the place I'll think of when I'm looking for a Kyungsung University dessert café to share a cool, sweet treat with friends 🍈🤍
