Suwon mall restaurant for fried gyoza and hotpot with mom: Horangigul
In short
Horangigul Timevillas Suwon (호랑이굴 타임빌라스 수원점) is a gopchang and daechang (beef intestine) hotpot restaurant on the 3rd-floor Dining Avenue of Timevillas Suwon in Suwon, Gyeonggi. The writer took her mom for the fried gyoza set (fried gyoza plus mild daechang hotpot) and finished with egg risotto; the mild broth was deep without being harsh, so even a spice-shy mother and daughter ate comfortably. With high chairs and a dedicated kids' menu, Horangigul Timevillas Suwon is a good pick for a meal with parents or children.

My family home is in Suwon and I'm Suwon born and raised, so I often go to the area around Suwon Station! Whenever I do, I always stop by Timevillas (the former Lotte Mall). You can shop and eat in one place, so it's a handy meeting spot! I took my mom shopping there, and while we were wondering what to eat, she said she wanted something hot and spicy. Horangigul (호랑이굴), a famous restaurant in Suwon Timevillas, happened to be right there, so we went! Here's my honest review from eating there with my mom!
Horangigul Timevillas Suwon: location and hours
Horangigul Timevillas Suwon is on the 3rd-floor Dining Avenue of Timevillas Suwon, at 134 Sehwa-ro, Gwonseon-gu, Suwon, Gyeonggi. It's open daily 10:30–22:00 (last order 21:00), and you can park in the Suwon Timevillas (former Lotte Department Store) building.

The map below should make it easy to find! ⬇️⬇️

Shop at Suwon Timevillas, eat at Horangigul, and since it's near Suwon Station, you could even finish with a date on Suwon Station Rodeo Street. I think that makes a great course!
What are the outside and inside of Horangigul like?
Enter the 3rd-floor Dining Avenue and head straight left, and you'll find Horangigul. There are seats inside, and there are also seats outside!

It's a popular Suwon Timevillas restaurant, so you may have to wait at lunch and dinner time! Register for the wait on the Catch Table outside, and the staff clear a free table quickly and show you in fast!

This is the inside of Horangigul! (There are seats on the other side too, but people were eating there so I couldn't take photos 😭) With the wood-tone interior and soft lighting, it feels like a Japanese izakaya (pub) and it's super clean! The tables are spaced widely, so it was perfect for sitting side by side with my mom and eating comfortably! 👍

The menu is written in Japanese on the walls, so it felt like walking into a restaurant alley in Japan, and it was fun just looking around!

Maybe because lots of families come here, there are plenty of high chairs! It's a mall where many people bring kids, so the owner's thoughtfulness really stands out, don't you think?? You don't need to worry at all about coming with a child!
Basic table setting and menu
When you sit down at Horangigul, garlic-stem pickles and two special sauces are set out by default. Dip the hotpot ingredients in them and the savory flavor explodes, it's magic! These sauces are the real kick 👍✨

This is the "how to eat it deliciously" guide on every table! It's very friendly, from dipping in the special yuzu soy sauce to the order of noodles and risotto! You know you have to read it carefully to enjoy it properly, right!? (Make sure to leave some broth and finish with the noodles or risotto!! ⭐⭐⭐)

Apparently the hotpot at Horangigul has a whopping 210g of vegetables, more than a salad! It's packed with healthy veggies like bean sprouts, mung bean sprouts, napa cabbage and green onion, and my mom especially loved that! The hotpot nails both health and flavor, so it's great for bringing your parents too! 💗

The main dish at Horangigul is the gopchang (small intestine) / daechang (large intestine) hotpot, said to be Korea's first and only red motsunabe (Japanese offal hotpot). I definitely wanted to order the signature dish! They also have rice bowls (donburi)!
Kids' menu if you're coming with children
Horangigul is also good to visit with kids, because it has menus just for children!
- Anpanman mini pork cutlet, with cutlet, mini rice and a vegetable set
- Kids' fried rice with a drink set
With these two options, you can order for the kids while the adults enjoy a spicy hotpot!
Honest review of Horangigul in Suwon Timevillas: the fried gyoza set
We ordered the fried gyoza set (fried gyoza + daechang hotpot, mild).

Ta-da~✨ Our "fried gyoza set" finally arrived!! A perfect two-shot of bubbling, rich, spicy daechang hotpot and golden fried gyoza that looks crunchy just from the photo! My mom and I both nearly drooled at the sight 🤣
Horangigul hanwoo daechang hotpot, mild

We chose the signature hanwoo (Korean beef) daechang hotpot in the mild level. Even my mom and I, who can't handle spice, could eat it without trouble, because the broth isn't harsh and is really deep and rich! The sweetness from the plentiful fresh vegetables and the savory daechang soaked into the broth, so my mom and I kept spooning it up like crazy. 👏👏
Crispy, juicy fried gyoza

Look at how amazing the golden fried gyoza looks!? Literally crispy outside and full of juice inside! The gyoza sits on a bed of cabbage drizzled with the special sauce, which makes it even better! Be sure to order it together with the hotpot!😉
Egg risotto to finish: leave half the broth

We were full, but we couldn't skip risotto, the Korean dessert, right!? I actually wanted the cheese risotto, but even though I thought I was leaving broth, my mom and I enjoyed it so much that we left too little, so they said we could only have the egg risotto. So that's what we got! Keep that in mind!!
If you want risotto or noodles for dessert, you must leave about half the broth. They make fresh vegetable stock to order, so adding more broth is difficult, they said.
They stir-fried egg and rice in the richly simmered hotpot broth, and it was delicious!

I took a big spoonful, and the deep broth of daechang and vegetables had soaked in, so it was the ultimate in savoriness!! Full as I was, I scraped the pot clean, and that's our little secret! My mom was really satisfied too. It was a perfect meal 💗

Takeout and the kids' pork cutlet discount coupon
I hear this Suwon Timevillas restaurant also does takeout! It was so good that I felt like taking some home for my family later!👍 They say it's easy to boil at home, so takeout seems worth trying.
Right now, if you go to the Horangigul Suwon Timevillas page on Naver Place and turn on notifications, you get a coupon, including a 50% off coupon for the kids' pork cutlet, so use it if you're going with children!😉

If you're looking for a restaurant in Suwon Timevillas, I highly recommend trying Horangigul's signature gopchang/daechang hotpot, a special dish you can't find near Suwon Station. ⭐⭐⭐
