I was looking for somewhere to eat with my baby around Dongtan on the weekend and ended up at Kkot Gatsu Dongtan. I'll focus on what I actually noticed during the visit so it's useful for anyone else looking for a place to eat with a baby in Dongtan.

How long is the wait at Kkot Gatsu on a weekend at 1pm?

We arrived around 1pm on a weekend. I figured there'd be some crowd since it was lunchtime, and sure enough there was a wait. Still, it wasn't a long one — about 10 minutes before we got seated. We used the public parking lot next to the building.

Inside Kkot Gatsu: tables spaced well apart

The first thing I noticed once we got in was how clean the interior looked. Not a flashy design, but clean and tidy overall. Best of all, the tables were spaced fairly wide apart, which I really appreciated.

If any of the basic side dishes ran low, we could just grab more from the self-serve bar ourselves — convenient!

What we ordered: cold soba set and flower cutlet set

Cold soba (buckwheat noodle) set for ₩17,000, flower cutlet set for ₩19,900. Since we'd be sharing with the baby, we chose the mild flavor for the udon. It didn't take too long for the food to come out after ordering.

I tried the tonkatsu (pork cutlet) first, and personally what I liked most was how moist it was. Tonkatsu can end up feeling dry overall because of the breading if it's not done well, but this one had relatively moist meat inside, so it was easy to eat without feeling heavy.

The breading didn't feel too heavy either, and paired with the cutlet it made for a well-balanced set menu.

Since we were sharing bits of everything with the baby, we naturally ended up alternating between the tonkatsu and the udon, and the udon was good too.

The cold soba at Kkot Gatsu stuck with me more than expected

And honestly, the dish I enjoyed the most this meal was the cold soba. Maybe because we'd been out and about on a weekend lunch, but seeing that cool, refreshing soba felt extra welcome.

The broth was nice and cool, which went well with the tonkatsu. Eating cutlet alone can get a bit greasy since it's fried, but having the cold soba in between made my mouth feel clean again.

So we ended up doing this thing where it was tonkatsu, then a bite of cold soba, then tonkatsu again, then another bite of cold soba, haha.

Portion sizes: enough rather than generous

One thing worth noting is the portion size. That said, for people like us visiting with a baby and sharing a bit of everything, it didn't feel lacking at all.
