Sunday night Korean BBQ in Hongdae with no wait: Chopilsal Pork Grill
Chopilsal Pork Grill Hongdae Branch is a pork barbecue restaurant in Mapo, Seoul, three minutes from Hongik Univ. Station Exit 1, and the Hongdae outpost of a chain headquartered in Busan. Arriving at 7:10pm on a Sunday meant no wait at all, and the meal ran through two servings of salted ogyeopsal (five-layer pork belly) at 12,000 won each and one serving of jinjja dwitgogi (pork neck) at 10,500 won, closing with zucchini doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) at 7,000 won. The chewy pork skin and a stew broth as rich as tonkotsu ramen are worth a return trip to Chopilsal Pork Grill for the pork skin dish alone.
