I was wandering around the pop-up stores in Seongsu-dong and stopped by bd Burger Seongsu near Seongsu Station for a handmade burger lunch. Seongsu is packed with hot pop-ups these days, weekends and weekdays alike, right? After all the wandering I got hungry fast and started wondering where to grab a proper lunch. I love handmade burgers, and I was craving a freshly fried crispy patty, so I hurried over to bd Burger.

How to get to bd Burger Seongsu: 5 minutes from Seongsu Station Exit 3

It's easy to find: come out of Seongsu Station Exit 3, turn right, and walk straight for about 5 minutes toward the Yeonmujang-gil alley. It's near the Seongsu Mega Store, so it's convenient too. The bold, trendy purple sign stands out from far away, so even people with a terrible sense of direction should spot it without getting lost.

The 2nd-floor interior and a full weekday lunch

The restaurant is right on the 2nd floor, up the building's stairs. The walls of the hallway are lined with super hip, stylish burger posters like a gallery, so my mouth was watering before I even got in. Near the entrance there's also a cozy waiting area for people waiting for a table or takeout orders, which was a thoughtful touch. I came at the weekday lunch peak, and as you'd expect from a hot spot, the seats were almost full, so I ordered takeout for a solo meal.

The one I was looking forward to most, the bd Burger Big Wasabi Shrimp Burger, has a crispy shrimp patty with a cabbage salad in wasabi sauce. It looks incredible. The moment I bit in, the outside was crunchy and the plump shrimp meat inside burst out, and I couldn't help smiling. The crunchy cabbage salad is tossed with a golden ratio of sharp wasabi sauce, so it made my nose tingle yet tasted clean and light.

The fried eggplant and mushrooms had a pleasantly crispy texture, a textbook crunchy-outside, tender-inside, and the cheese fries, which would also go well with drinks, were delicious too. They're a textbook sweet-and-salty combo, and grabbing one between bites of burger felt like a proper carb recharge. The milkshake was so cold and tasty it gave me brain freeze, perfect for a hot summer day.
