What is Milyang Dol Jjamppong, a lunch stop on a Milyang drive?
Milyang Dol Jjamppong (밀양돌짬뽕) is a Chinese restaurant at 82-1 Baengmin-ro, Milyang-si, Gyeongnam, South Korea (1st floor), famous for jjamppong in a scorched-rice stone bowl, and on weekends a wait is a must. It's been a long time since I drove down to Milyang, whoosh, and while figuring out where to eat lunch, I visited this locally famous place!
I knew before arriving that it was a place with a wait, and as you'd expect from a popular spot, the wait was huge... People don't call it a must-visit on a Milyang trip for nothing, I guess.

How long is the weekend wait at Milyang Dol Jjamppong?
On a weekend, the wait was about 40 minutes. I registered on Tabling (a waiting-list app) and waited in the car, so it wasn't too tough. The moment we arrived I was like, gasp, so many people waiting! But since we'd come all the way to Milyang, I was determined to eat here no matter what!!

Thankfully there's a Tabling system. About 40 minutes on a weekend, I think... ㅠ It's been ages since I last waited in line.. In our neighborhood I would never wait ^^

I told myself we came all the way to Milyang, so we have to go to a famous place, and while waiting I agonized for ages over jjamppong or jjajang (black bean noodles), haha. Both seem to be famous here!

Is parking easy at Milyang Dol Jjamppong?
No parking worries here. There's a public parking lot, and you can also park in front of the restaurant! Spots free up quickly too. It's a stone-bowl jjamppong place, but there seemed to be plenty of other side dishes as well~~!

They even give you an ade if you write a Naver review, haha. So nice~~!

Ordering the stone jjamppong and tangsuyuk set: spice levels and options
We ordered the stone jjamppong and tangsuyuk set, and ordering it as a set takes ₩1,000 off!! I was torn, but I wanted tangsuyuk too, so we went with the set. The food didn't take as long as I expected after ordering and came out piping hot!!

You can choose the spice level, pick a side option, and add a drink too!!

Self-serve bar and aprons at Milyang Dol Jjamppong
At the self-serve bar you can grab pickled radish, sauces and so on, and there was a microwave too! An apron is a must... I'm a messy eater, so I spilled everything even with an apron ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Be careful when you eat.

See how many people there are? There was a waiting line the whole time we ate and every seat stayed full. The weekend popularity is totally crazy!

They said it would take a little while, but the wait still wasn't boring. I was just happy thinking about eating, haha.

They bring ice when you ask, and rice is free! But the portions were so big that I couldn't even get to the rice ㅠ The amount is really, really big.

How does the stone jjamppong taste at the mildest spice level?
As the name says, the stone jjamppong comes in a hot stone bowl, so you can eat it warm to the very end, which I loved, haha. The broth is spicy, and I can't handle spice, so I chose the mildest level and it was still a little spicy, haha. But it's deliciously spicy!!
There's also a seriously huge amount of seafood. Lots of shrimp too... my beloved shrimp. The noodles are really chewy and soft!!
What is the handmade chicken tangsuyuk like?
The handmade chicken tangsuyuk that came with the set was also a generous portion, and there are two sauces, a spicy sauce and a regular sauce! It feels a bit different from ordinary tangsuyuk, and alternating it with the stone jjamppong made a great combination!
For two people, I felt the stone jjamppong and tangsuyuk set is a good combination. Still, it might be a lot for two women. The stone jjamppong is really, really big!!
A filling meal done... it definitely recharged my energy for wandering around on the Milyang drive. Glad we waited~~! When you travel, hunting down good food and eating well raises how satisfied you feel with the day, and even with the wait, this meal felt exactly like that, haha.

Look at the jjamppong noodles, don't they look totally springy? However much I ate, the amount never seemed to go down. It would be even better for big eaters! Since they give you rice too, next time I want to come with my family and try the stone jjajang.

Packed with seafood!! The broth was so good, so rich and brothy, that it made me want a drink. It's not for nothing that it's called a Milyang must-eat!!

The portion was big so I left a bit of the seafood, but this is pretty much a total clear, haha.

Free dessert after the meal
After the meal, Milyang Dol Jjamppong had candy, coffee and even yogurt ready as dessert, so thoughtful, haha. It's a small touch, but it's great for freshening your mouth after eating and ended the meal on a happy note!
Who should visit Milyang Dol Jjamppong?
If you like spicy jjamppong on a Milyang drive, I recommend Milyang Dol Jjamppong! The set menu makes for a hearty meal, and since it's a busy place, you should expect a weekend wait! It's a solid meal on a drive route, and since they have jjajang too, I think it would be good to come with kids!
