Gwangalli Korean BBQ before the Pokémon drone show: Myeongseung

In short

Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi is a Jeju black pork and pork belly (ogyeopsal) restaurant a 1-minute walk from Gwangan Station in Suyeong, Busan. Before the Gwangalli Pokémon drone show, the blogger and a 6-year-old stopped by around 4pm on a Saturday for 3 servings of black pork belly (45,000 won), kimchi stew (5,000 won) and pork noodles (7,000 won), and the child happily ate the chewy pork belly, homemade-style side dishes and noodles. Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi is a good place to fill up with kids before a day out in Gwangalli.

A Gwangalli meat restaurant just a 1-minute walk from Gwangan Station, and a great spot for pork belly: Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi (명승제주생고기)! On a Saturday, my little one and I heard there was a Pokémon drone show in Gwangalli, so we made a day of it, hahaha. Gwangalli is packed on weekends, so I try to avoid it if I can, but a Pokémon drone show? Can't resist!! Before the show, we filled our bellies with Jeju meat. Let me tell you about the Jeju black pork belly that even kids ate up at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi!

Parking and opening hours at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi

Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi has room for just one car in front and no dedicated parking lot. It is open weekdays 17:00-22:00 and Saturday and Sunday 11:00-22:00, and closed every Tuesday :)

It's a 1-minute walk from Gwangan Station, so getting there by public transport is super easy :) It's also about 10 minutes on foot from Gwangalli Beach, a nice distance for playing at the beach and then coming for meat! We went by car, though, haha. We got lucky and parked right in front ^^ If the spot in front is taken, you'll need to use nearby alleys or a public or private parking lot.

Menu and prices: what we ordered

We ordered 3 servings of black pork belly (₩45,000), 2 bowls of steamed rice (₩2,000), kimchi stew (₩5,000) and pork noodles (₩7,000). Besides black pork belly, the meats are fresh ribs, seasoned ribs and regular pork belly.

There are plenty of side menu items to go with the meat, like naengmyeon (cold noodles), pork noodles, doenjang rice (soybean paste rice) and kimchi stew, and every one has big portions and tastes great. Even the side dishes are this good, seriously.

Saturday at 4pm: was it crowded?

We visited Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi around 4pm on a Saturday and had a very relaxed meal :)

My little one pouring their own water, and eating so well! The pork noodles were so delicious that my noodle-loving kid practically inhaled them!

Is 3 servings of Jeju black pork belly enough?

We only ordered 3 servings of black pork belly at first, and the portion was bigger than expected, so we didn't order more! After a couple of side dishes, I was about to burst!!

The moment the meat hits the hot grill, you hear that sizzle, and it sounds so delicious ^^

Meat really is best cooked over high heat, right? Pork belly with the skin still on, and it's been a while since I had some, so it was pure heaven!

How are the side dishes at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi?

Every side dish at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi had a homemade touch ^^ I guess the owner makes them all herself or himself?

It felt like healthy home cooking, which made me feel good while eating, you know?

How to grill pork belly just right

Grill the pork belly until it turns golden and lightly brown, flipping the sides too! Here's how to cook pork belly nicely on the Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi grill!

Sizzle sizzle, meat is best when you grab it with chopsticks the second it's cooked and pop it straight in your mouth, right? It was so good. I can't forget that first bite!

The conclusion: warning, it's delicious however you eat it. Maybe because the pork belly comes from Jeju, the chewy texture was amazing. The side dishes were so good too!

₩7,000 pork noodles: will kids eat them?

The pork noodles at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi cost ₩7,000 and come piled with meat. They scooped some out before mixing in the chili powder, so my 6-year-old ate them well. The meat is thick, so I felt full after just a few pieces! But we couldn't leave without eating the pork noodles, right?

Jeju-style pork noodles in Busan, and for ₩7,000?! What is this quality for ₩7,000? Look at how much meat is piled on, T_T Owner, are you sure you're still making a profit? T_T

We slurped them up so happily, hahahahahaha I scooped some out for my little one before adding the chili powder and they practically drank it, hahahahaha A 6-year-old can eat it well too ^^

₩5,000 kimchi stew with plenty of meat
Kimchi stew and steamed rice served with pork belly

Is the ₩5,000 kimchi stew worth recommending?

The kimchi stew at Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi, what can I say, the meat melts in your mouth and for ₩5,000 the amount of meat is a total bargain. The meat is great here, but I recommend trying a variety of the side dishes too!! They're full of the owner's home-cooked touch ^^ Fill up on pork belly at a Gwangalli meat restaurant, then off we go to explore Gwangalli with my little one!

Walk in Gwangalli with the child after the meal

A walk in Gwangalli and the Pokémon drone show after the meal

After a happy meal, we strolled around Gwangalli, stopped at a café for dessert, and then watched the Pokémon drone show properly, or so the story goes ^^ Really enjoying life in Busan! Myeongseung Jeju Saenggogi near Gwangan Station is recommended for anyone who wants a taste of Jeju in Busan ^^
