Tonkatsu sets to share with curry rice in Pyeongtaek: Omi Katsu
In short
Omi Katsu is a tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet) restaurant newly opened on Godeogyeoyeom 11-gil in Godeok, Pyeongtaek. Two sets put cheese katsu, tenderloin katsu and loin katsu on the table along with cold soba (buckwheat noodles) and curry rice for a group to share, and the cutlets were crisp outside and juicy inside while the cold soba reset the palate in between. For anyone who can never pick just one dish, Omi Katsu's set combinations are the easy answer.

So many good restaurants have been popping up around Godeok in Pyeongtaek lately. This time I went to the newly opened Omi Katsu. If you love tonkatsu, it's a place worth checking out — and to cut to the chase, every dish was pretty satisfying~

It's especially good if you come with several people, since you can share different types of katsu and add cold soba or curry on the side — great for a meal with family or friends.

What two Omi Katsu sets bring to the table
This time at Omi Katsu we ordered cheese katsu, tenderloin katsu, loin katsu, cold soba, and curry rice. Order two sets and you get all of this haha

At first I only meant to order tonkatsu, but looking at the menu I wanted to try a bit of everything, so I mixed it up. Tonkatsu is best fresh, right? Cutting into it while still warm, the outside was crispy and the inside was juicy — just looking at it made my mouth water. Godeok and Pyeongtaek have a lot of similar restaurants these days, but what I liked about Omi Katsu was being able to enjoy several dishes centered around tonkatsu.

Cheese, tenderloin or loin: how the three katsu compare
The one I was most looking forward to at Omi Katsu was the cheese katsu. Cutting it open revealed melted cheese adding richness, and paired with the crispy batter it worked really well. If you like cheese katsu, this one should satisfy you without fail.
The tenderloin katsu was clean and tender — not too greasy, so you could really taste the meat itself, which I personally found refreshing. And the loin katsu had that classic crispy-meat combo you think of when you hear "tonkatsu."
Ordering all three together let me compare the nuttiness of the cheese, the cleanness of the tenderloin, and the richness of the loin side by side — it was fun. If you're looking for a good tonkatsu spot in Pyeongtaek and can't decide which one to get, ordering a few kinds to share isn't a bad idea.

Why order cold soba and curry rice with the sets
Eating tonkatsu nonstop can get a bit heavy, but ordering cold soba alongside it made it easy to keep going. Taking a bite of the cold, clean soba and then going back to the tonkatsu felt like resetting my palate — the combination worked well. And surprisingly, the curry rice ended up being one of my favorite dishes. I like ordering curry alongside tonkatsu in general, and at Omi Katsu, the tonkatsu and curry paired nicely too.

If you love curry, you don't need to seek out a separate curry restaurant — just order it alongside tonkatsu here and enjoy. Lately, pairing curry over tonkatsu or with rice has become pretty common, and having this many menu options made it a good spot to visit with people who have different tastes.
