Kkachisan Station donburi for one: ebi fry, croquette add-ons, Hekbap
In short
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is a Japanese home-style rice bowl (donburi) restaurant on the 2nd floor of a building near Exit 2 of Kkachisan Station in Gangseo, Seoul. At a solo lunch, the writer ordered the soy-marinated shrimp bowl set (₩3,000 extra for udon and chicken karaage) and added ebi fry (fried shrimp) and potato croquettes. The pork cutlet was sold out, but the plump marinated shrimp and soft potato croquettes were satisfying. With most dishes just over ₩10,000, Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is an easy, affordable place to eat alone.

A great spot near Kkachisan Station: Hekbap Kkachisan Branch

Where is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch, and when is it open?
Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is on the 2nd floor of a building at 35 Gangseo-ro, Gangseo-gu, Seoul, right in front of the Kkachisan Station exit. It is open daily from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., with a break from 15:00 to 16:30 and last order at 20:30.
I went to Hekbap, a great place for eating alone, at the Kkachisan Branch. Every Hekbap branch seems to be close to a station, and I was reminded again how easy they are to get to. I was suddenly starving, and it was right in front of the Kkachisan Station exit, so I walked in. You can enjoy a variety of Japanese home-style (gajeong) dishes at reasonable prices, just over ₩10,000, so it's an easy meal, and that's why I'm introducing this Kkachisan Station favorite :)

Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is close to Exit 2 of Kkachisan Station. I went at lunch, avoiding the break time, and besides people from the neighborhood, office workers kept coming in steadily. Every menu item can be taken out, so delivery riders and takeout customers kept dropping by too.

It's on the 2nd floor, but quite a lot of first-time customers (like me) seemed to wander in while passing by.
Is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch comfortable for eating alone?
About 50% of the customers during my visit were eating alone, so the mood is easy for solo diners. Being on the 2nd floor, it's quiet, and the big windows let in lots of sunlight!

As I said, about half the people there were solo diners. The seating was spacious too, with plenty of room all the way to the back~

Tables turn over fast, so I didn't have to wait long. Staff clear empty tables quickly too!

I read the "how to eat it deliciously" guide while deciding what to order, haha
What did I order at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch?
At Hekbap Kkachisan Branch I ordered the marinated shrimp bowl set (saeujang deopbap jeongsik) and added ebi fry (fried shrimp) and potato croquettes as sides. There are lots of menu items, but honestly, the marinated shrimp at Hekbap is really good...

Marinated shrimp again today! I wanted something fried too, so I added ebi fry and potato croquettes. Sadly, the pork cutlet was sold out..!! It seems katsu goes fast during the lunch rush!!! I wanted pork cutlet with my marinated shrimp,, but I ordered the rest instead, haha
What comes with the marinated shrimp bowl set
For just ₩3,000 more, Hekbap's sets come with udon and chicken karaage (fried chicken) as sides. I ordered the marinated shrimp bowl set.

If you want a heartier meal, I think the set is a good choice!

The shrimp are lined up in a neat circle~ haha, so glossy and shiny

Next to the rice there were pickled onions and flying fish roe, and a fresh egg yolk on top.

How to eat the marinated shrimp bowl
Break the yolk first with a little poke, mix the roe, rice and onions evenly, then take a bite~ yum, haha

The shrimp are plump, and when you bite them with your front teeth, lol, the texture is the best..

Don't cut them with your spoon, use your teeth lol, and feel the texture~~

It's salty but also springy and so good that I order this every time I come to Hekbap lol

How were the potato croquettes and ebi fry?
The potato croquettes at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch come as 3 pieces and they're so soft T_T Full of rich, deep potato flavor! Really soft, like mashed potato that's been lightly fried..! That texture, haha

The shrimp ebi fry was crispy and tasty too. The kiosk said 1 piece, so I thought I'd get a single one, but two pieces came out!!

And with the set upgrade came cold udon~ crispy chicken karaage, and a cabbage salad underneath!

Hekbap always gives white rice cake (huin tteok) as a closing dessert lol, and it's a nice little treat too, haha
Is Hekbap Kkachisan Branch a good place to eat alone?
Almost everything at Hekbap Kkachisan Branch is just over ₩10,000, so it's an easy place to eat alone, whether lunch or dinner. It's a good pick when you want a variety of Japanese home-style rice bowls :)
