In short
Hwaro Yangmi (화로양미) is an aged lamb and lamb skewer restaurant near Seoul IT Valley in Seongdong, Seoul, between Ttukseom Station and Seongsu Station. After dinner, the writer stopped by Hwaro Yangmi as a second stop without drinks, ordering 1 portion of lamb skewers and 1 portion of lamb belly, a first try. A great lamb skewer spot in Seongsu: Hwaro Yangmi

Hwaro Yangmi: a Seongsu lamb skewer spot for a second stop after dinner
Hwaro Yangmi (화로양미) is an aged lamb restaurant near Ttukseom and Seongsu, and I went for a second round after dinner. We'd had a lovely dinner, but I still wanted something more delicious on top... haha.

Even without drinks, hopping from place to place is half the fun, right? I'd had this place saved for ages, and it finally fit our route. It's a Seongsu lamb skewer favorite, and it was full even on a weekday evening!!

Hwaro Yangmi is close to Ttukseom Station, near the Seoul IT Valley area. The space is big and there's parking in front, so driving there seemed fine too.
Besides assorted aged lamb, lamb skewers, lamb ribs, lamb loin and lamb belly, you can also enjoy authentic Chinese dishes here. If you book through Naver first, you can walk straight in with no waiting!
Is Hwaro Yangmi spacious, and does it have group seating?
The tables are mostly standard 4-person ones, and the whole place felt very big and roomy~

At the back there are tables screened off by something like lattice? It looked good for a bigger group dinner. Most people seemed to be there for a second round rather than as their main meal, haha.

It's not far from Seongsu Station either, so it'd be a nice dinner stop on a Seongsu date! I booked by phone, and the woman who seemed to be the manager was so kind! The part-timer was kind too!!! haha
What we ordered at Hwaro Yangmi: lamb skewers and lamb belly
I'd planned to eat only 2 portions of lamb skewers, but then I spotted lamb belly on the menu!

It was my first time, so I decided to take the challenge, hahaha. They grill it on a charcoal brazier, and from start to finish you don't have to lift a finger, they grill it all perfectly for you hahaha. You just sit back and eat!!

Four sauces and side dishes at Hwaro Yangmi
Hwaro Yangmi serves 4 kinds of sauce, and they were seriously good.

The spicy powder sauce and the whole-grain mustard especially were the kick.. that popping, crunchy texture and the fresh tang went so well with lamb~~

The shredded radish salad (musaengchae), zha cai (pickled mustard stem) and peanuts were tasty too, haha.

Munching peanuts is part of the fun at a lamb skewer place...

Here come today's 1 portion of lamb skewers and 1 portion of lamb belly~~~! The meat at Hwaro Yangmi looks pretty and comes out neat and clean.

Does Hwaro Yangmi's aged lamb have a gamey smell?
The lamb at Hwaro Yangmi was grilled over strong charcoal and was full of juices, and you could definitely taste the difference. Being aged lamb, the texture was chewy and tender, with deep flavor.

The typical lamb smell wasn't overpowering, so I think it's a good place for first-timers to get into lamb. Some places have a lamb smell that's just too strong, but Hwaro Yangmi was very clean~~

How the lamb skewers taste at Hwaro Yangmi
Dip it in the sauces~~ and one bite at a time, yum - skewers first!! The lamb skewers at Hwaro Yangmi were tender and soft with the meat packed full, and dipped in sauce right off the grill they were so good.

Maybe because the charcoal aroma soaks in, the flavor felt deep too.

The fat was just right, so it was clean and nutty~~ and the meat was firm with a satisfying chew, haha.

Trying lamb belly for the first time: how it tastes
Lamb belly was a cut I tried for the first time at Hwaro Yangmi. It was sliced thick, so the juicy chew came through even more.

It has rich layers of fat like pork belly, so it was chewy yet soft. Grilled, the fat was so rich and nutty~~!!! No gamey smell at all, which was another big plus.
Is Hwaro Yangmi a good second stop in Seongsu?
I heard Hwaro Yangmi is also a popular spot for company dinners among office workers around Seongsu, and honestly, a place like this is the real deal. haha. It's friendly and clean, and a good place to visit when you want lamb near Seongsu. The staff grill it over charcoal and make it taste great, so it was an easy-to-eat lamb skewer spot :0
I came for a second round and only ate meat, but next time I'd like to order some of the other dishes too!
