On a weekday afternoon I wanted meat sizzling on a grill, but surprisingly few BBQ places open around 11 a.m.

Seongsu Teojeon opens at 11:30 on weekdays, so I could enjoy pork belly and pork neck for lunch, and I loved that! I booked on Naver ahead of time, so we got seated right away haha.
Inside Seongsu Teojeon and reservations: is it busy at weekday lunch?
The seating at Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch is arranged on both sides of a central kitchen~

It's cozy and has a real meat-restaurant feel, so it's a good place to visit when you're hunting for tasty pork belly near Seongsu.. And even though it was daytime, we weren't the only ones there for meat, haha T_T
Glad I booked..! Walk-ins are possible, but I think reserving is a good idea, especially for the evening!
Seongsu Teojeon menu and lunch specials
The menu at Seongsu Teojeon has pork belly, pork neck, hangjeongsal (pork jowl), gabrisal (a cut from the neck end), and a well-stocked mixed platter~

Since we went at lunch, we only ordered 2 portions of meat plus a side, but it was still a generous amount! There were also side meal dishes discounted as lunch specials, everything from cold noodles to stews.

Seongsu Teojeon side dishes: why the salted shrimp was so good
The side dishes at Seongsu Teojeon are especially good haha. The table has instructions for eating the meat the best way, and I slowly followed them from number 1, and the result!!

The myeongi-namul (pickled wild greens) combo and the salted shrimp (saeu-jangjeot) were seriously delicious?! Maybe because it's a shrimp sauce I hadn't really had anywhere else?

Nutty and rich with that oily flavor~~ it was the secret sauce that lifted the flavor of the meat so much haha
Pork belly and pork neck for 2 at Seongsu Teojeon: do they grill it for you?
At Seongsu Teojeon Ttukseom Main Branch, we ordered 1 portion of pork belly and 1 portion of pork neck.

Look at the color of that meat, so pretty!! Bright pink with just the right amount of fat, and the pork neck looks thick too~ They also give you minari (water dropwort) and green onion on the side, and they grill those in butter!!

I didn't know this, but a little butter makes it so much tastier haha. Even a picky eater like me who doesn't eat grilled veggies loved it.

The staff grilled the meat for us from start to finish, so it was super easy to eat.

All you have to do is use your chopsticks haha. The meat quality is so good that it looked delicious the moment it went on the grill.

They put the charcoal in first, and maybe because the charcoal is good, nothing burned and the meat was grilled with the juices still locked in! And of course their grilling skills were great too haha. They cut it into neat bite-size cubes and put them on one side for you!
The meat was really, really tender, and the juices didn't just burst, they flowed...

The must-order at Seongsu Teojeon: pork belly
The pork belly at Seongsu Teojeon in particular was really, really good!!

The fat is incredibly nutty!! The crunchy texture even felt a bit like pork jowl..

No wait, it was actually better than the jowl...? If you come to Seongsu Teojeon, I really, truly recommend the pork belly.

The pork neck wasn't dry either, with a clean, full meaty flavor that was superb! Putting a piece on a little salted hairtail (galchi-jeot) was great too! You can enjoy each bite in different combinations, so I never got tired of it until the end.

After the meat: bibim mul-naengmyeon with extra pollock
What we added partway through at Seongsu Teojeon was bibim mul-naengmyeon (cold noodles in spicy sauce with a little broth) with extra pollock~

The pollock sashimi on top gave it a great chew, and it was sweet-ish~~ so good haha. The noodles were thin and very soft.

The broth was refreshing too haha. With meat, I just can't resist cold noodles!
